As a medical provider myself, I understand the difficulties of treating patients from all walks of life. From young to old...different socio-economic backgrounds...to those who "think they know more than the doctor" through reading a quick Google search, I can empathize with the difficulties of treating patients in a difficult setting with insurance companies hand-cuffing physicians and trying to direct patient care. These "for-profit" insurance companies should be ashamed of the way they handle their beneficiaries, but Dr. Savala and his team (most notably Jo!) at Interventional Pain Management Corp. are true life-savers and care deeply about their patients. Compassion and Passionate: These two words exemplify the care I received under Dr. Savala's supervision. I have been a patient for several years, and this review is long overdue. After have a significant disectomy on my lower back at UCSF approximately 6 years ago, the outpatient care I received there was minimal and not personalized for my needs. After linger symptoms developed and a failed epidural from the UCSF team (which took about 3-4 months to get even an appointment!), I sought care outside UCSF's abysmal system. After conversing about my problems with another anesthesiologist, he recommended that I see Dr. Savala "because he really cares about his patients and is the best at what he does." I desperately needed help, and I found it in Dr. Savala. My first appointment was comprehensive and thorough. Dr. Savala always spends considerable time treating/consulting me about my issues and personalizes his deep knowledge on chronic pain management. Since my first encounter with Dr. Savala and his staff, they have all provided the utmost considerate, compassionate, and passionate care to match my needs. Since leaving the UCSF system, I required several epidural procedures to alleviate pain in my lower back over several years by Dr. Savala, and each procedure was done with the utmost precision which resulted in a reduction of my pain each time. Unfortunately, I developed another massive disk herniation which completely incapacitated me while on vacation in another state recently. Dr. Savala and Jo were there for at every step of the way. They spent countless hours on FaceTime via virtual appointments, reading MRI results, getting me the correct prescriptions, and prepping me for emergency surgery in a foreign environment. Once the surgery was complete and I was cleared to fly home, Dr. Savala and Jo integrated my postoperative care with my emergency surgical team. Since then, I have been working every month with Dr. Savala to help with the post-surgical chronic pain. He works tirelessly and goes out of his way for his patients. I have interrupted his vacations and weekends when problems arose, and he treated me off-hours with compassion every step of the way. He should be rewarded and recognized for his service, and there is no other Pain Management Specialist (or another physician for that matter!) I trust more than Dr. Savala. Simply put, I do not know where I would be without Dr. Savala. He is a result-oriented individual who personalizes his care with true passion for his trade and compassion for his patients in need. Dr. Savala stands out for so many reasons it's difficult to explain in one review, but he is a pillar of his industry and should be the model for any physician's care regardless of their specialty. He is trustworthy, comprehensive, and accountable. He addresses his patients with a personalized, science-based approach like no other physician I have worked with in the past, and there is nothing negative whatsoever that I could say in any respect regarding Dr. Savala's care and the relationship we have built over the course of several years (including Jo!). Please....Please....Go see Dr. Savala if you have chronic pain issues or need a Pain Management Specialist! He is simply an amazing individual, but more importantly, he is a one-of-a kind physician and provider.

This review has been a long time coming. Dr. Savala has been treating me since the beginning of my journey with my back pain since 2014. I've seen other pain management specialists but none compare to him. He takes time getting to understand his patients, has zero agenda pushing meds and procedures like some other doctors and gives you the straight facts. He is highly skilled with his surgical procedures and is clearly well respected and referred to by other practices and organizations like Sutter Health and UCSF. He shows an incredible amount of empathy towards his patients and does follow-ups post op. I would recommend 100x over - he's really helped me through the ups and down of chronic pain pain!

Dr. Savala was patient, attentive and thoughtful, giving me solid advice and recommendations. I will definitely get a nerve block when I need it. The staff is helpful and respectful. Even though I had to wait over 30 minutes, I appreciate the demand on his time and, as I said, patience.

I had two discs removed and replaced with artificial discs. The surgery has changed my life for the better but Dr Savala has helped me stabilize my nerves effected by the surgery. He is a wonderful listener and I would highly recommend him if you have chronic back pain.
