It's a nice little climbing gym. If you have some time to kill or close by check it out. It can get super crowded in the afternoon. Bouldering is not as crowded as the top rope where you have to wait your turn to climb. Bouldering classes in the afternoon will overwhelm the bouldering walls. Parking can be hard. I'd say it's okay to park in the auto shop lot when it's past their closing time. If you can't find street parking there's parking at the shopping center a block over.

Awesome space to challenge yourself and meet new people! With exceptional staff and a great atmosphere, this is the perfect stop on your journey home from work or out for an adventure.

Truly a nice place. I've been to other indoor climbing venues and the big difference is that here they don't take shortcuts: no automatic systems, you have to make your figure eight knot and use the provided gri-gri's as belay devices. I am not a great fan of the gri-gri (I like the "robot" better) but I really appreciate they try to stay close to what one would experience on a real mountain. I have seen they have some treadmills in the mezzanine but I didn't go there. The personnel is most caring.

I love climbing and it takes a lot for me to dislike a climbing gym. I tried very hard to like this gym since it’s the closest to me but failed. The tiny, dark, crowded bouldering walls, limited style of routes, the lead climbing walls mixed with top roping routes, staff giving belay tests without consistent standards, etc. Some staff also seem to be a bit snobby about climbing. While my partner and were trying to take a test I wanted to wait for a 5.8 that was occupied (I was helping my partner get tested at the end of my climbing session and I was already tired). The staff pointed out that a 5.10a was available and I said “I prefer something easier since your rule allows me to pick the route”. And he said “but it’s a 5.10a”. His attitude was not the best way I’ve imagined to end my climbing session. Also ironically, after my partner passed the test, the staff told me if I were taking the test that day he would’ve failed me (I was already lead certified in the same gym). A climbing gym is where I disconnect from work and enjoy myself after work but I often feel frustrated in this gym. Switched my membership to touchstone and feel VERY happy with Dogpatch and Pacific Pipe.

We don’t currently have a speed wall at PG Belmont. However, we know it’s popular and our spaces are constantly evolving. We’d love to bring a speed wall to one of our Bay Area gyms in the future!
Gym is tolerant of young kids but does not have a specific facility catering to them. Expectation is the they are supervised by their parents or guardian.
No, Touchstone and Movement are different franchises/companies so a membership or waivers with one does not grant the same permissions to the other.
Planet Granite is open to the public just like most gyms. Just walk in with ID, fill out some paperwork, choose what type of membership you want, and then pay. The gym also offers classes that can be paid by the session without signing up for a membership.
No auto belays, but you can make announcement for finding a partner
It felt like there was almost twice as many bouldering routes at the Belmont site vs the Sunnyvale site. And that Sunnyvale was set much harder.
Yes there is.
Hey Vieta - great question. Our highest walls reach 50 feet high at Belmont.
