Second time I have tried to donate and had to leave after having waited an hour past my appointment time. What’s the point of making an appointment if they can’t keep a schedule?

Last time I went here I left after waiting almost an hour. Two people who arrived later than me were helped first because they were giving larger donations (platelet, power red) than my whole blood donation. Not fair so I will never donate at this location again.

My husband and I, made appointments twice to donate blood and both times in the morning of our appointment ( less than an hour to our scheduled time) they called and said they are understaffed and wanted us to cancel our appointments. Second time I complained about this to the caller and he was like, if you must come you can but the wait time would be between 1 to 2hrs.... I told him, I don't have to come but I would like to since we would like to help others and also what is the point of making an appointment if we have to wait up to 2 hrs!!!!! If red cross need blood and they let you make an appointment they they should have enough people to handle doners. Otherwise, book the time slots so people won't be able to schedule.

Great staff. I have been coming here for 2+ yr and I really like how respectfully the staff treats incoming members. The place has good snack options and dedicated parking spots for visiting donors. I highly recommend this place for someone looking to make blood/platelets/plasma donation.

You have to make an appointment.
I believe American Red Cross is volunteer only. You can call them and find out. I donate whole blood regularly and do not get paid.

+1 to what Michelle said. I'll add, make sure to check back every so often. I was able to book an appointment during Thanksgiving week just a few days prior. My guess is someone had cancelled, so the slot freed up
I think they are giving away $5 Amazon gift cards via email. But that's it. They don't pay for donations.
I would self-isolate. Younger donors can pick up the slack. You are very kind to think of donating for others at this time, but self care is a priority for those over 65 right now.
You'll find out your blood type after you donate.
You would have to call them and ask this is not connected to them at all
