Beautiful trails, amazing views, a bit of a challenge. Went on a weekend and there was a little bit of trail traffic but not to bad.

Very nice picnic area, and good trails. Occasionally, you'll see where someone has errantly left trash on or near the trails. I normally pick up what will fit in my pockets or pack. Leave the area cleaner than you found it.

Gomez Peak is part of the Little Walnut trail system near Silver City, NM. The Gomez Peak trail is a moderate hike with lots of variety, natural beauty and sweeping views. Many of the trails in the Little Walnut trail system are poorly marked but if you make a wrong turn, it won't be long before you get to another intersection to get back on track. Gomez Peak trail is well marked so no problem there. It is well worth the hike to the top for the 360 degree views. This is the best hike close to Silver City.

Great hiking opportunities right on the edge of town. A couple of nice mountains to climb. Easy access to the CDT.
