Before coming to Aberjona our family member was in and out of the emergency room many times. The assisted living facility she was at was not equipped to accommodate her medical and safety needs. Though we were reluctant at first to admit that she needed nursing home level of care, we could not be more pleased with Aberjona! The care she has received from everyone at Aberjona has been excellent. They carefully have monitored both her medical and safety needs. She has not been to the hospital once since she arrived at Aberjona two years ago. Also, what is so important to us is that she is happy! She loves her caregivers, the other residents and the activities!

the nursing staff and ot and pt are very good and genuinely seem to care but that is where it ends. the remaining hired help some good some bad is where the system falls on its face.you request service you never get it,they mumble in their native tongue etc could go on forever if they don't want to be there go sell burgers.i probably needed more rehab time but I insisted on leaving due to these shortfalls.I can't describe it all dealing with tremondous pain and these losers is more than a body can handle

Save yourself the pain and trouble. Don’t go to Aberjona. All of these places are alike. They pretty much told me that they wouldn’t/couldn’t do much for my Mother. They just try to get you to go into their nursing home. It’s all a racket.

My husband was a rehab. Patient at Aberjona From 4/10 to 4/27 following surgery at MGH. His care was outstanding . RN.s; PT.s; OT.s did an excellent job. My husband had PT; OT 6-7 days a week. The nurses; nursing assistants Were beyond kind and competent! The food was good . The facility was immaculately clean. Every person he ( and we) encountered were positive ; encouraging and upbeat. They , literally got my husband “ on his feet”! I am a retired nurse and a critical observer of all of his care. If there were 10 stars available , they would have gotten 10 STARS!!

Questions & Answers

How is the care?

Very short staffed on weekends. Care during the week was sporadic. PT rehab was very good. Nursing home care was not that good. I had several problems that were never addressed.

How do you get in touch with the owners of the facility when your concerns are not met?

The owners are the Salter family. I never spoke with any of them. I had to call and speak with the facilities director. They were nice to me about my concerns regarding my mother's care, but nothing was ever done. They would forget to feed her or get her to the hairdresser. It was so depressing. I had to ask over and over again to put her name on their list for the podiatrist to see her. Everything was a battle. The worst was when she was dying and extremely agitated. I had to fight with them about comfort measures. She was 98 and I just wanted her to have a peaceful death.
