This place will always be my favorite dessert spot in the North End and I know I’m not the first to say that. Their desserts are always delicious, the line moves fairly quickly for being a long line, and their staff are friendly and helpful. I have been 3 times this summer alone, and too many other times for the last 15+ years and it doesn’t get old. I normally like to order cannolis with chocolate dip and chocolate chips. It’s not too big so you can actually enjoy the whole thing in one sitting. The ricotta cheese filling is my favorite in the area. It’s smooth, has the right texture, and taste. The casing is also not too hard or thick to bite into. Other desserts I like to get there are: strawberry short cake, chocolate covered strawberries, truffles, lemon squares, and macaroons. I will always be a fan here! Until next time!

We adore Modern Pastry! The fruit tart is our absolute favorite…we opted to split one the first time we visited, but now my boyfriend and I insist on getting our own because they are too good to share. The service is always outstanding and the prices are very fair. This time, I ordered a springtime cupcake (in addition to the fruit tart) and the server actually asked what color I wanted! It was so thoughtful and unexpected; I appreciated the kindness and attention to detail. Go here for a wonderful pastry - you won’t be disappointed!

Really good spot for cannoli. Got the chocolate chip which was really good and comparable to Mike’s but not as good in my opinion since it wasn’t as sweet. The ricotta was flavorful and the shell was nicely made. The portions are a little on the smaller size vs Mike’s. I also had the vanilla custard on a plain shell with chocolate chips added to the ends and this was fine but I wouldn’t get it again. The line is way more organized than at Mike’s and it goes quick. Note, they only take cash

If you haven’t tried the mouth watering desserts from Modern Pastry, it’s a definite must try if you have a “sweet tooth” and you already reside in MA or visiting Boston. Airy, delicate french macaroons-rich, velvety chocolate cake-creamy fillings that are all just perfectly balanced in sweetness. Prices are medium depending on your choices from their wide selection of pastries but definitely worth it without the guilt.
