Some of the worst family shaming I’ve seen. Families are not allowed in any restroom except 2 designated ones in the aquatic center all the way in the back of the building. If you’re going to the pool with your children or picking up from childcare you have VERY limited restrooms options that are designated for you. They call themselves a family establishment but they’re not. The have permitted the senior citizen community to scare them into not allowing small children in the restrooms. As a former member and former purchaser of swim lessons I will no longer use the YMCA in the town of Sarasota. This is not a family friendly establishment and they bully families and special needs children. I’ve had members scream at me and verbally attack my children.

The Y is a good gym. Peak times are busy (like everyother gym out there... good luck finding a gym to go to after work that isn't packed.) I have no complaints about the Y. I never get bothered while working out or feel uncomfortable. Great gym for anyone who wants a comfortable experience.

A month after signing up for ~$27 per month, I was billed for $55 for my second month. I thought it was clearly a mistake, so I went to ask why. Apparently turning 30 is justification for charging me $55/month. The YMCA employee named Shelby that signed me up didn't give me any warning whatsoever, nor did she tell me that I would be billed such an outrageous amount for a gym membership. Never mind the fact that every other gym in town charges $12 per month. It's just unbelievable to me that the YMCA would treat its customers this way. I told them I would not be paying $55 for this month or ANY month, and they threatened to send me to Collections. All I wanted to do was get in shape and live healthier. Instead I got ripped off, and they say there's nothing they can do about it.
