The playground is really large, also has a splash park and beach access. Good views of Mount Rainier across the lake.

Such a GREAT PLAYGROUND. It's clean and right by the beach, Russell's Landing. A few years back they put in a splash area with water cannons, etc.. Gets crowded in the summer, but it's a pretty big playground so there's a lot of room and additional fields surrounding it for the kids to play unobstructed. ♥︎

I think this place is technically closed for the winter season (which in WA is like half of the year). I like it because it provided me with an easy spot to launch my Paddleboard on American Lake. They have a large dock, a cafe/bistro (both closed currently) and a playground for the kiddos.

Water is warm but you have to be military to use the park it's on JBLM base
