Pet Harbor takes very good care of the animals they take in. All the way to where they are adopted too. Best animal rescue I have been to. I just adopted a beautiful older puppy. I have been involved with non-profit organizations before, some spend their donations unwisely. Pet Harbor uses what they get in donations wisely.

I appreciate how much the rescue cares for the dogs, but owner is completely bad at communicating and respect. A family member of mine applied to adopt a dog from there. (A nice employee let us fill out the application and told us that she will try to get the owner to call us as soon as possible.) after 10 calls, no answer. So After 2 whole weeks of calling and waiting the owner calls my family member back. “I don’t think your fit to take care of him. We already found a house that is good for him.” We haven’t even got to see the owner or the dog in person and the owner hasn’t even seen my family’s house or stepped inside of it EVER. Asked no questions at all. I understand COVID maybe that’s the problem, but your just gonna cancel our application just like that?! Should’ve told us sooner before we gave our hopes up. Now my family member is loosing her faith in finding a dog now. I know there’s so many other dogs out there, but when she said “you’re not fit to take care of him” that really hit her hard. very disappointed with the owner.

Lavonne, who runs it, is very particular about who she will give a dog to. She'll ask many questions and if she thinks you are a good match, will invite you to meet the dog. If that works out, she will come to your home to make sure that it is a good safe place for your dog. She does this out of love for the animals. Don't be off put. It's worth it. She's wonderful and our Standard Poodle is happy healthy, loving and fun.

I adopted an English Cocker Spaniel from Pet Harbor about six months ago. The staff were all wonderful before, during and after the adoption. We are thrilled with our dog and can tell what good care she received while staying at Pet Harbor. I wouldn't hesitate adopting another pet from this shelter. They keep the shelter clean and the pets there all seem very happy.

Pet Harbor does not have a walk through policy.

Hi, I was told that you picked up an older female German shepherd named Mabel. I was wondering what happened to her. Is she o.k? Thank you, Madeleine Bassi
