Staff always helpful. Plenty of reading selections. Quiet and comfortable. Only 4 stars today - because they're redoing the Fiction and Mystery sections. Authors A to G not currently browse-able...

Good selection of books, but it's often too crowded to study in. The little swamp outside the library is absolutely gorgeous.

It's always awesome experience here . Today my son need some research help and asked a question to librarian. Wow. She answered him for all his questions and helped to find out where and how he can get more details , how he can do online and place request and go on by him self . This is his 1st experience at this library. He used to go there when he was 3 yrs old and we used to do things for him but today he was so happy with his experience and the old lady , she is super human at this age . Very very knowledgeable and make his trip super excited. She was helping almost everyone around.

No, they are doing non contact pick-up.
No.
Take ID with you (like a driver's license) to the library counter. They can look up your account and give you a new card. Just like Srikanth said, but you will need ID.
The library budget covers many things. It costs money to keep the library open more hours. Perhaps you can use your school library for the hours the public library is closed.
Yes, anyone can visit. But you may check out books only if you have a library card. You may inquire about the card with the librarian.
You may check what is checked out on your card and due dates by going to the online library website. At the very top, there is a box to check your account.
Yes. Not sure about details but seen flyers relating to ESL.

Yes, all the libraries in Alameda share books.
I don't know the hours but the Alameda County Library web site has all that information. Union City library has quite s few workstations as well as laptop computers. I have never seen all of them in use.
The library hours are determined by usage and budget.
