There are three approaches to this hike. The best is to park at the parking area in the open meadow as you drive down Willamette from downtown. The ascent is easier and in the trees. From the main parking lot, if you take the trail to the left it I really steep. Fun to go that way and come down the back of you want a good burn!

I love all of the trails in this park and making it to the top is a wonder all in itself, especially when it is raining. There are ground squirrels everywhere on the very top, which I'd never seen before. People treat the park with respect even though there is a lot of traffic and the trails are very well maintained. It's amazing sitting up at the top and staring down at the valley below as you get a full 360 view. There are different difficulty levels with each trail, which made it an adventure in trying to get back into shape after quarantine. It was the first place I was recommended when I traveled through Eugene, which I completely understand! An absolutely remarkable experience on so many levels.

Always a pleasant escape from small city life. This is the most mainstream hike in all of Eugene, so sometimes the trials are very busy.

Nice hike, beginning is the steepest, then easy trail, then some rock stairs. My 3 year old has hiked this trail with me multiple times. It's a great family hike! It's pretty busy but once at the top it is gorgeous and tons of rocks to lounge on and take in the beauty while not having to be right next to someone else.
