Limited parking at this old park at the top of a hill (butte) in a residential area. Part of a former military school decades ago. On a clear day, you have a view of Mt. Ranier, Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens. Good spot for sunset views.

Nice easy ride to the top today. Great on nice weather like today. The view not the greatest today, a bit hazy, you could see a couple mountains easily today though, like Mt Hood in the pic. Free access, now the loop at the top is closed to cars, made so after the pandemic. Usually very little traffic when riding on either of the roads up the Butte. Fun climb all around. You can combine this climb with Mt Tabor nearby, takes about an hour to climb both.

I need to go here again with a better camera and again at night, as well as in the daylight hours. Very nice tourist spot to view Portland. So pretty at night with the lights of the buildings. Clean and well maintained hiking trails. Totally recommend this to those who like hiking and lookout points.

Great spot. Parallel parking near the top. About a dozen spots. Google says "busier than usual" but there are only a dozen people here. It's nice abs quiet with a great view!

Parking on street is free. Walk up to the top of the butte for a fantastic view! No cost fun! Just to be clear, there is no formal parking lot or any fee.
First place I take family when they visit. Best view of Portland and surrounding mountains.... Still beautiful on a cloudy day but best if you can get there when its sunny
You can drive clear up to the view area and then it you drive around to the south side ,you can go up the grass or gravel to avoid the stairs on the north side! Hope that was helpful, have a great time!!!
The address above many not be right. On Google maps, select the text rocky bute park. That's the official entry point. There are two entrances to this park. One ada accessible, other has steps. They are opposite sides of each other
No but nearby Rocky Butte Park at Normandale Park on NE Halsey is an off-lease area and at Tillamook & NE 82 is an off-lease dog walk area.
