I worked for both the California Conservation Corps and Marin Conservation corps in 1993-1994 (CCC) & 1995-1996 (MCC). Both organizations helped shape me into a great dedicated worker and educated me in so many ways. I now share much of the knowledge with my own children. Our crews were some of the hardest working people I have ever worked with. Being a crew leader for both organizations was the perfect work experience I needed back then and even pays off now as I have taken my learned skills and became regional maintenance manager for the the largest waste hauling company in the US. I have great memories, although cut short back then due to an injury that I failed to report in a timely manner that put me in a hospital for 2 weeks. The early re retirement made way for a great job proceeding my tenure @MCC. I also still have my Fire Mitigation Inspector certification issued by Fire Safe Marin during my employment. I highly recommend seeking employment through MCC for any high school graduates that dont have the means for college or trade schools, or just don't have an idea what type of work they want to get into. the training is very diverse and the ethics and skills will pay off for the rest of their lives.
