In September 2018, I had my passport stolen the night before my flight back to Paris. I realised my passport was gone at around 03:00 and my flight was at midday. I immediately applied for an emergency passport, as recommended by the Foreign Office in London who were open at the time, to try and get an appoint as soon as possible with the Consulate-General in LA. At 8:30 (30 minutes before opening), I received a call from the Consulate-General telling me that my request had been received. I was then informed that I could get an emergency passport if I got there at 09:00, without needing an appointment. This was still 3 hours before my flight from LAX. Nonetheless, I received my emergency passport there on the spot. The process of creating it took no more than 10 minutes. The service and care that was afforded to me was outstanding. Extremely proud and glad to have been dealt with so efficiently. Well done and thanks again!

No live operator. How many different options you try the automated voice forces you to go and look at the website. Obviously when people do not get clear answers on the website, they would like to talk to a live agent. Why a customer service number without a customer rep.... wasted a good 1/2 hour trying to talk to a live person. Useless and pathetic service. Wake up UK embassy, lots of disgruntled callers....

Agree with the majority of reviews. Horrible service and attitude. No help. I felt like a homeless bum applying for monetary assistance rather than a dual British/American citizen seeking answers to my questions about relocating to Britain. The paid staffer was only good at barking out websites impatiently, getting in a huff and dismissing me. Charming? Helpful? Encouraging? Concerned? No. I have been treated better seeking help in the USA for anything. Horrible and discouraging.
