An oasis! A nice forested area with basic spots for a night before traveling on. Plenty of free spots on a Wednesday night in July.

spent the night camping here, and then hiked up on top of one of the clay mountains protruding out of the gap. we sat on top and took photographs of the castles off in the distance. you can see all forms of crazy erosion taking place here. there are little flat plateaus down in the valley with clay river beds engulfing them all around. these photographs were taken at the beginning of November 2020

It was a lovely stop after being in the Rapid City area. Just soaked in the natural beauty with no other people around! Stayed two nights and only had one other camper one of the nights. Did a bit of hiking while there too. We stayed in a 38 ft 5th wheel.

Secluded and beautiful with plenty of restroom facilities. Narrow roads and deep ditches in places. Will definitely use again.

Absolutely! There's fire pits at every site. Of course keep an eye on local fire restrictions, but other than that you're good to go.
No, we've never had a problem with room, and there's usually 6 of our campers wanting to be together. There's also usually numerous single spots and some you could get 2 on
