If you come to Sacramento Old Sacramento State historic Park is definitely a place you want to stop and see. Take a step back in time during the present so you can experience things that would be futuristic to the time period.

The old Sacramento neighborhood is obviously a staple here. On the west coast, no other major city has one. I'm not gonna claim that the shops and food are the best, but the preservation of gold rush history is second to none. Everything on top is added cuteness.

An interesting historical site to visit, good foods and explore the many museums in the area. Love the quaint King Delta hotel & restaurant (breakfast incl.for guests) on the Sacramento river.

Always a joy, even tho some of the exhibits were closed. Great gift shop. My son is obsessed with trains, so of course this is his favorite. There is an Amtrak train from the east bay to here for added traintopia.

It's free to walk around. Some of the historic places are free to view. The ones that cost can be found online. I bought the $60 membership to the train museum. Train rides are free with membership. Various activities and era shows in the streets for all to see on holidays and special events. Can easily fill up an entire day.
