The staff was friendly and helpful getting my new library card. It's a nice library with a lot to choose from :)

The little lady Vicky was terrible at the counter. She made my visit very hostile and seemed a little rude. Assuming that I would steal books and not return them. Don’t go here, the Catolog says they have it they don’t. It stinks in there. Always homeless people that smell like pee. Ruins the trip definitely. I’ll be picking a new Library

I recently moved here and am quite disappointed that a city as large as Oakland has such a poor library system. Very few neighborhood branches and a small main library with many dated books and a less than welcoming interior with dim fluorescent lighting and old furniture. I will be making good use of Link+. A cool plus is the tool lending program, which may come in handy in the future.

Hat is a very good question. But to tell you the truth, I'm not sure. If I find out I will post it.
The library is not open on Friday November 29. It will reopen on the Saturday November 30 at 10:00am..
Yes.
The library closes at 5:30pm on Saturdays and we do have a drop box.
You need to discuss that with someone at the library.
You can renew your card in person, by email, or by phone at any Oakland Public Library location.
From library website: The following locations have a self-service station for scanning documents: 81st Ave, Chavez, Eastmont, Rockridge, and the Main Library. You are able scan documents to a USB drive, email, fax, and more. The station has a book scanner to scan individual documents and a sheet-fed scanner that quickly scans a stack of documents. Scanning Costs Scan-to-Print (Main/81st only):$0.15/page for black and white, $0.50/page for color Scan-to-Fax: $0.15/page for domestic, $1.00/page for international All other Scan functions: Free of charge
