Although I prefer to shop locally in Bend, this store, in one of Bends most iconic historic buildings, has a huge variety of things you might not be able to find around town. Staff is super friendly, the store is always clean, and only periodic scents of patchouli. :)

The people at this location are sooooooo nice! I’ve been in loads of times and they are always so helpful. This afternoon specifically, a girl (brunette with long hair, I didn’t catch her name) went above and beyond to help me find a mesh bag. When it wasn’t on the shelves, she looked at their online inventory and even scoured the back stockrooms—and she found me one! It made my day. 😊

Love REI in general, they are usually very focused on inclusiveness. In this location there's no signing on the bottom floor for the elevators for those with accessibility issues going up the stairs. The entrance to the lower floor elevator access was also completely lined with stacked boxes. We had to chase after an employee to ask where the elevator was. On the second floor the signing for the elevator was clearly marked and visible. We again had to chase down an employee to ask where the leather cleaner was. This store is beautiful and mostly well maintained, the low rating is literally to gain the attantion from the leadership to understand the impact and perception of a bias against customers who have mobility issues.

Have had great experiences in the past but last night was not a good one. Went in asking for an item that said it was stock online and when I went to ask the gentlemen at the front desk to help me find it, he just said “I don’t know” - didn’t even look it up? He was unhelpful and generally quite rude. We were interested in signing up for a membership but he clearly didn’t want to take the time to answer any of our questions and didn’t really make me feel valued. Left feeling kinda bummed about the experience
