So far one of my favorite nature trails. All dirt paths, no paved walkways. It's so beautiful and peaceful. There's a few side trails, but if you stay on the main path it loops around. I personally enjoy walking through the stream and climbing the trees. Wonderful place to bring children.

Maple woods natural area is unique from other trails in the area in that it isn't paved and the area itself is a designated natural and wildlife area, not a park. The area looks very beautiful and old compared to other nearby natural places. You can find some interesting diverse flora and fauna there. There's miles of trail to go on with branching paths and loops. If you go all the way back you'll end up near highway 1 not far from Walmart, though I'm not sure if there's a path all the way through. There's a small parking lot for the natural area just off N Agnes Ave.

I would highly recommend this place for 2 things- Fall colors and mile hike trail. The path is unpaved and you get the feel of walking in a dense forest. Im not sure about restrooms but the parking is limited so you need to wait until some car decides to leave. Make sure you have your insect repellent on before you enter. Overall good experience.

This is a great place to get some exercise, hike, walk your dog/s, etc. I've never seen more than a couple people on the trail at a time. There are a bunch of different routes you can take to extend the trail as long as you'd like. Maple Woods and the Missouri Department of Conservation do a good job maintaining the trail. Since I was a kid, this has been a nice, (somewhat hidden) gem in the Northland to take a relaxing walk in nature.
