Beautiful, well kept gardens. Lots of walking trails. Plants are well identified and kept. Staff is very friendly. Butterfly House is beautiful with many varieties of butterflies you can observe up close. If you sit still, you may be lucky enough to have one land on you. The Children's Garden is amazing! There are facilities are well placed throughout the Garden so you are never far from water or restrooms. Lots of shady spots to hang out on hot sunny days.

This is an experience in Huntsville that you CAN NOT pass up. I went during the summer and I would love to come back in the spring. Absolutely beautiful, a large variety of plants. The butterfly garden is very tranquil. The aquatic garden has a beautiful walkway and there is a play area for children. There are several locations among the trees that have places to sit and take in the surroundings. Also, there is a cafe on the grounds. I would suggest making sure you bring a water bottle to be prepared for the heat if you are going during the summer.

Nice place - very similar to Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. Exceptional visitor center, walkways through the gardens and lush trees. They have weddings there too in beautiful settings. Flowers in spring are spectacular!

Beautiful and Peaceful. Although we went in November still we had a peaceful walk in the park. My son loved the big chairs and picnic bench. We also saw some 🐠 fish. The staff was great. They have a cute gift shop with Okra which was so tasty.😃 Also for families that can’t afford the full price you can get in for $3.00 a person under the museum for all. Make sure to check website for more details.

Approximately how long does it take to walk through the whole garden?

El Flaco | Jul 22, 2020
Brian Huilman | Jul 23, 2020

That completely depends on what you want to see. I have walked there for five hours, taking all the little trails through various sections. Like Michelle and Vicki says, it depends on what you want to see and how much time you're willing to take seeing it. I will say it's nice to build-in time to sit and relax on a bench or just pause and admire some of the art work.

It won't hurt to ask; however, because it's run by the City, I don't think it's possible. I am impressed by your concern for it!

Friend at work told me something about "community dirt" at Botanical Gardens. Can I get some dirt there if I bring my truck?

I'm afraid the mulch program, which was sponsored by the city, ended due to budgeting. The Botanical Gardens does NOT provide free mulch or dirt.
