I will never use this company again- consider yourself warned. The day was started off by the lead person of the crew complaining about customers being stressed within the first minute of arrival. This did not set a great tone for the day, but I continued to show them around and left to let them be. Unfortunately, their attitude continued to be poor the entire day. (To describe the situation, I was moving out of 750 sq ft apartment into a storage unit. Almost half of my belongings were already moved to my new place; however, I needed the furniture and most of the kitchen packed and moved.) I arrived 1.5 hours later with 2.5 cabinets packed and a bed and shelf wrapped (with three packers). I was appalled and started to help pack with my sister. This move took 7 hours and 30 minutes which should have taken no more than 3-4 hrs. Of course I was charged an hourly rate. (For context: my previous move with a different company took a total of 3 hours with more inventory and moving apartment to apartment- not apartment to storage unit.) Throughout the day, they were rude to me but the situation that really did me in was what happened at my storage unit. I arrived a few minutes after they did. I walked into the main office to confirm the location and gate code. At that time, the manager was visibly upset. He goes on to tell me that the movers had “yelled and screamed” at another customer at the storage unit location because they were having difficulties with the gate code. I was so embarrassed and had to apologize over and over again for their behavior. I have used other moving companies before and have never experienced such disrespect. I strongly encourage you to reconsider before booking with this company.

Ali and his team of two other guys were great today and super friendly! Moving out of a third floor apartment of a building with no elevator is not fun for anyone, but they were quick and efficient, didn’t complain at all, and got the job done way faster than I expected. Even helped carry a few things to my car before they headed to my new place. Would definitely recommend them, and when I move again in the future will be booking them for sure.

Golden Bay Relocation exceeded all my expectations! The movers are highly professional, punctual, quick, thoughtful, and personable. They had everything under control, and took special care of all my belongings. I will be using them again for any future move. By far the best experience. Edit: I had to update my original review (see screenshot attached). Long story short: the move was a catastrophe, almost all the furniture was damaged. However, their office was very understanding and forthcoming. We worked with Golden Bay Relocation 3 years ago and their movers were amazing. They were fast, efficient and just did a great job overall. This year we worked with them again and everything that could go wrong went wrong. The moving crew was inexperienced, rude and unprofessional. The day started wrong by them driving to the drop off location first. Apparently there was a mistake in the system. The confirmation email we received showed all addresses correctly. They started tracking time 25 minutes before they arrived. We later showed proof with the phone call history and didn’t pay for that. At the pickup location they didn’t wear any slippers over their boots even after we asked them to do so. After that they started to become sarcastic and tried to make fun of us. One of the movers flirted with our nanny and asked her for her phone number, which was totally inappropriate. They didn’t pack their truck properly and left a lot of space empty. Because of that they didn’t take all the furniture and we had to drive multiple times the next day ourselves to move the remaining furniture. We even pointed out the empty space and had to ask them to rearrange furniture in order to load more on the truck. They forgot some furniture, which they agreed to load, at the pick up location and they had to come back. That did cost extra time, which we didn’t pay for in the end. At the drop off location they had to assemble the furniture. We asked them to use a blanket, because we had a new wood floor installed before. They were careless, didn’t use a blanket all the time and caused at least one big scratch. After I pointed it out, he said that the scratch was there before, exactly at the spot where they assembled the furniture. After that they got sarcastic again and made fun of us in French assuming we wouldn’t understand. While unwrapping we noticed that almost every single piece of our furniture was medium to strongly damaged. That should not happen with a professional moving company. As you can see in the pictures, they only wrapped the furniture lightly and didn’t cover it properly in the truck. We were very angry about the whole move and contacted their office several times. Their office was very understanding and they reimbursed a partial amount of the repair costs. They understood how poorly the move was done and how many unacceptable mistakes were made. After the whole situation I strongly doubt Golden Bay Relocation employed the moving crew. I assume they were unprofessional subcontractors. One of them worked as a translator shortly before and lost his job during Covid. The other guy said he only helps out and didn’t even know how many hours he would get paid. It was a terrible experience, we were very disappointed and I would not work with Golden Bay Relocation again.

When movers damage furniture?

If you hired a licensed moving company, you have someone who is insured as well. Most of the local moving companies in the Bay Area are offering basic coverage insurance that is regulated for all movers. But if you would like to have third party insurance, you can feel free to do so.

Since most of the local moving companies are charging hourly rates, you should pay your local movers once the service is done and they calculate the number of hours they needed to finish your move. With Golden Bay movers you are paying at the end of the move because we have hourly rates and 3 hours minimum. After that minimum price is the same, but prorated into 15 minutes increments.
