If you like meat you will like LBS. It is not as precious as Fatted Calf. No offense. Respect to the animals, all parts. Animal rights folks should express their rage at an appropriate target. These folks ain't it.

I love The Local Butcher Shop! Best Butcher Shop in town!! These people know their stuff. When you want to know how to cook something or want the most tender meat to impress your special guest for any engagement, let me tell you this is the spot to be!! Most of the butchered is done right in front of you too. Very clean and they follow all safety procedures for their self and the handling of your food. What your waiting for? Come on down you won't be disappointed.......#Facts

Great spot to go when you need that special grass-fed, marble piece of meat from a particular reason or Farm, or when you need an old-school kind of something like guanciale, to make some real Italian pasta, the butcher's there are knowledgeable, friendly, and what is under the glass, changes with the season, whatever the season, ask him a few questions and you'll get an education in the new paradigm of Butchery, in a more sustainable way

You'd think that a place that feels like a hipster barber shop would lean heavier on the vegetarian/vegan spectrum, and perhaps meat-alternatives are in their future. Otherwise I have nothing but good things to say about the staff & shop: their products are largely sourced locally and tasty without fault, and the Xmas ham specials (with glaze) show off the skills of the chefs-turned-butcher really well. If you need advice or help with the selection, ask - every staff member I have encountered shone with appreciation for the products and the cooking processes. I'm also really grateful that they simplify the logistics of getting a heritage turkey on the table for Thanksgiving.

We only allow 3 customers in the store at a time. All must be wearing masks. There is an entry door and a separate exit door.
It is not certified organic but it comes off of our pigs which are all raised to our standards; outdoors, plenty of space, organic or non-gmo feed.
Yes!
We sell pork blood.
Sometimes call to see if there is any in the case.
We only carry it around the winter holiday time. It is from Rossotti Ranch and is beyond humanely raised. They sell at the Sunday Marin Farmer's market in San Rafael if you are looking for it sooner!
This isn't the local butcher, but a public former. They probably do, but you should contact them directly.
Every now and then we will get goat meat. It is expensive and thus, is not such a great seller. You can get great goat meat at the San Rafael Farmer's Market on Sundays from Rossotti Ranch.
We sell haggis in January and then frozen throughout the winter into spring.
We get a veal once a year. At that time, we do have cutlets available since we buy the whole carcass.
