This is because you are missing some fonts. Inside the download file there should be a folder entitled “Fonts” – in this folder there should be custom fonts designed by Pixel Film Studios. Fonts like “Basic Shapes” or “Basic Frame” (etc). Simply close FCPX and install these fonts and they will replace the strange letters. Your computer may warn you that it does not recognize these files but this is just because they are custom fonts. After successfully installing a Final Cut Pro X plugin you can find it in one or more of the libraries inside of FCPX. A product may install to the Effects, Generators, Titles, and/or Transitions libraries. While the plugin is selected navigate to the controls panel. There will be an Edit mode button in the published controls that when checked on will allow you to click the text in the viewer. If you double click the text you can replace the type. Next, select the text inspector window by clicking the paragraph lines icon. This will allow you to change other options such as Font, size, tracking, and much more.
