One of the few places you can still get a free walk-in Covid-19 PCR test in San Diego County. Thanks to Omicron and the spike in cases, the line has been closing early and is now 3-4 hours long! There's no way my 92-year-old father can stand in line that long, and with his dementia, he wouldn't even be able to do it in a wheelchair. Fortunately, CSUSM has an "ADA line" -- when we drove up with our handicapped license plates, we were directed to a sectioned off area of the parking lot near the testing tent where, after registering on my phone, we could sit in the car until his turn. We still had to wait about 45 minutes, and Dad was getting antsy, but we got 'er done. They asked if Dad could do a self-swab, and since he couldn't, I got to do it under their supervision. Although I didn't see it for several days, as it was buried in my spam, the e-mail with the link to the results arrived the next day.

The new testing site in Parking Lot B is quick and convenient and all outdoors. Test results came back within 24 hours. As always, this is a free service provided by San Diego County Health and Human Services. No appointment is needed and you can get more info at 211sandiego
