Positives: Good breakfast selection, comforts beds, cold A/C, and decent pool. Location is close to restaurants, Publix, and Walmart. Staff is friendly. Negatives: Hardly any TV options. I’ve never stayed at an IHG hotel that didn’t offer directv with many options. Half of the channels they offer don’t come in, and a few have no sound. Walls are thin, you can hear people next door or in the hallway. Had the DND sign on the door for the entire stay, but was disturbed by staff multiple times on multiple days. There is also some kind of mold or mildew issue with the bathrooms. Without fail, after EVERY shower, my husband and I would be congested and sneezing a lot. Stopped whenever we left the room, so we know it’s a room problem. According to other reviews, other guests have experienced similar problems. For a hotel that was recently renovated, I’d definitely expect better. This Holiday Inn Express fails to meet IHG standards and I really wonder how they do with their inspections. As a former IHG employee myself, I would not recommend this property. It’s only getting 2 stars because of the beds and the breakfast offered.

I would never book this hotel again. I'm a long-term IHG client and booked this hotel through that site. We've stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses before and note that each one is owned by a different owner. 1) We booked a paid night and a reward night. We've never had a problem with the reservations not being combined so we didn't have to check out and check in to be in the same room on the second night. We had to do that here. 2) The door to the room was so tight that we had to body-slam the door to close it. We mentioned this after the first night and to the staff's credit, it was fixed. 3) The bathroom counter was cracked at the edge and looked like it might come off the wall. Who inspects the rooms? Don't the housekeeping staff care enough to report something like this? 4) The towels (2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths) were very cheap. We'd been in another IHG hotel two nights before and got 4 of each towel + a better quality. 5) The best part of our stay was the breakfast staff Bobbi and Rashid, who went out of their way on both mornings to help everyone and keep the space immaculate. Please do everything you can to keep them! 6) I don't care about this, but IHG does -- we were not recognized as IHG members.

Positive: The front desk check in staff was very nice and professional. Location was very good. Negative: The room felt very humid and dirty the carpet was very sticky the bathroom door was falling apart and if you enjoy your showers standing in water up past your ankles then this will be the hotel for you. Was very dissatisfied! Especially for the rates.

Staff was polite, but we checked in, got into the room and jumped in the shower, it was filthy, the shampoo and shower gel are still empty, I went down after the shower and asked them for some shampoo, she handed me some conditioner and bar soap, said someone will be up tomorrow to fill them up, we are on day 2 of our 3 day stay, and still no one has showed up. In the morning I wake up so stuffed up, looked around found the air filter, there is probably a half inch of dust on the outside of the filter. We just stayed at a holiday inn in Miami, it was the best stay ever. Sarasota of all places in Florida should be clean and enjoyable. Our house is out of plumbing for a few days, and we just wanted a clean shower and place to stay for us and our children. This was not it!
