It is very rare for a lawsuit to be filed. Most cases settle before ever going to court. However, if you are not satisfied with the compensation that is offered then filing a lawsuit is the best thing to do in that situation.
The answer would depend on the case. We have cases that settle in as little as four months but others can be longer depending on the facts of the case.
