At first I didn't think he was a terrible doctor even though you'd wait 1-2 hours after your appointment time to see him because he seemed nice and knowledgeable. After a several months things got progressively worse. He lost his office space and started telemedicine visits which he ALWAYS missed. The few times he actually bothered to contact me it was late at night. He hardly ever responded to emails and when he did it was weeks later even on emergency matters. He had me on 9 medications without regard to their interactions and getting prescriptions filled was like pulling teeth...the pharmacy couldn't even get in contact with him. Both myself and my attorney have repeatedly requested copies of my medical records via phone, email, fax, text and mail and he has yet to provide them even over a year later. This has made it difficult to get care from another doctor and tanked my disability claim. He either doesn't care or his own life is in such shambles that he is not capable of caring. Upon looking at his medical license history I am surprised that no one has made a complaint against him. I am in the process of doing so and from the looks of the other reviews I've found across the web, many others should be doing the same.

dr. H as he would perfer his name be called as people have a difficult time pronouncing his name, is a understanding and empathetic psyciatrist and M.D. as well. this is the two thing that make a dr. great for the people as in his patients. he understands and is highly skilled when listening to his patients. when you see dr.H you know your needs will be met and it is a relief knowing this because 95% of doctors or psyciatrist these days it is always hit or miss or maybe next time. I know my body and what works for me and this is when dr. H listens when all the others go deaf. although he only works his downtown office one week out of the month, he does provide skype appointments so he is never really away from you at all. i am blessed to have found him and so thankful.

I think I went psychotic trying to see this psychiatrist. If you are on Obamacare, forget about trying to see this guy. A little background on me so you don't think I'm just a nutcase living in a tent downtown. I'm a highly educated 30-something working on my masters degree with 5 years of professional experience in the corporate world. I wanted to see this psych for a minor issue I was having. In regards to scheduling, everything is done via email and text message. There is no phone number in the event that you need to contact them. I scheduled my appointment and had to specifically say that I was on medi-cal (odd). Wait time for the appointment was about a month. Right before my appointment, I receive an email stating that my appointment has been cancelled... and the kicker is that it can't be re-booked for about another month. That should have been an obvious sign that they are discriminating against people with medi-cal. Did everyone else with an appointment get pushed back a month? My guess is that the medi-cal folks were bumped, but the non-medi-cal people were not. Anyway, so I wait for my next appointment. They send me an email saying that I need to provide them with my date of birth. They also say that I should fill out and submit two forms before my appointment, but I could also turn them in on the day of my appointment. I emailed them my date of birth and decided not to turn the forms in until my appointment. The funny thing is, they weren't as persistent with these forms for my original appointment. The night before the appointment, I receive an email stating "Unfortunately, we're going to have to cancel your appointment tomorrow since we haven't received your completed forms. Please confirm cancellation." I replied back within 4 minutes asking about the original email that said I could bring the forms to the appointment... intimating that I did not want to cancel the appointment and that I was going to bring the forms the next day. The phrase "please confirm" is essentially asking a question, which is synonymous to "is this okay." The person who sent me the email is obviously not professional enough to understand this nor the decency to respond back to my question. Should I have submitted the forms to them before the appointment, maybe... but if it was required, they shouldn't have made it an option. Anyway, since they didn't respond to my email, I went to my appointment the next day assuming that it was still good to go. I had all of my forms filled out ready for them. I get to the place and it is literally a room straight out of a horror film. If it appeared morbid to me, I can;t imagine what children feel like going in there. I sign in and sit down, but I don't see anyone working there. An hour goes by and I still see no employees, just patients. This was another sign that I should have just walked out. Finally, some girl in a ripped/stained shirt comes in with her kid. At first I thought this was a patient, but then she gets behind the "desk." I asked her if my appointment was still good and she says "I'll let you know in just a minute." 15 minutes goes by and she is just chatting it up with another patient about the tattoo on her neck and a nose piercing. I've seen more professional people working gas stations in 3rd world countries. I ask again and now she looks into it. She said my appointment was cancelled. I state all of reasons and their emails verbatim to her. Obviously it was like talking to a wall - she kept saying the same thing regardless of the email evidence. Then I just look at her (I'm now fully accepting that my appointment has been cancelled) to see if she is going to do anything. She didn't offer to reschedule me, fit me in somewhere, apologize for the inconvenience... nothing. She just repeats that my appointment has been cancelled. So I calmly pack up all of my belongings and leave after investing 2 hours of my time. Btw, I highly suggest not to sit down on any of their chairs or couches, I got some odd itchy rash on my leg. In conclusion, avoid this place like the plague.

I've seen a total of 5 different Psychiatrist throughout my 26 year life time. Dr. Heidenfelder is by FAR the most helpful, and respectable. And I've been a patient of him for only 6months. He understands EVERYTHING. Very smart Doctor. If it was possible I would've gave hin 10 stars out of 5. I highly recommend him to anyone whos looking for a good Psychiatrist!
