Really cool stop if you're in the area. Takes less than an hour to walk through, see everything from barn owls to pelicans to bald eagles. Totally free. Not sure I'd drive way out of my way for the place unless I really loved birds though.

I stopped by with my children who are learning about birds at school. Lots of birds to see. A volunteer brought out an owl for us to meet. Another worker showed us some baby owls they had rescued just yesterday. She was headed out to try to reunite them with their parents. We really enjoyed the many pelicans, in particular. Interesting place that's doing great work. Free parking and admission, but donations are taken.

This bird sanctuary is amazing. They help all injured birds and try their hardest to get them back into the wild. Last week they released 20+ pelicans. What a beautiful thing.

Parking and admission are free. They have a ton of birds of all kinds that have been rescued and some wild birds that fly over top. It is a well kept place and they do take donations which I strongly encourage. There is also an observation tower overlooking the beach. We didn't get the tour due to schedule issues on our end. I would highly recommend it's a diamond in the rough

Chickens are a little different than wild birds. As long as you've done your research to care for them, hatching shouldn't be a problem (I had chickens on a farm back in Texas). The real issue/problem would be what/how are you going to care for them afterwards.
Yes they are always looking for volunteers. If the volunteer is under 18 a parent is required to volunteer with the child.
I don't think they are a place where you surrender family pets. They are a rehabilitation facility for wild birds.
They have drop off cages in their parking lot. Did you try the number on their website? https://www.seasideseabirdsanctuary.org/injured-bird-rescue.html If you call the Sanctuary's Hotline and it goes to voicemail, don't panic. The Sanctuary's Hotline receives a non-stop number of calls all day long. Getting the voicemail usually means the operator is on the other line with another potential rescue. Simply leave a message with your name, your phone number, and the location and description of the suspected sick or injured bird, and the operator will call you back as soon as they are done with the other rescue call.
Yes, You can drive him to their location and drop him off during their buisness hours for immediate help. Thay also have outside cages injn the event your later than anticipated.
You should call before you go there.
I found SO many businesses respond faster via social media these days. Also, it is a busy little place. Probably in need of more volunteers. Hope this helps.
You can leave just about any bird there at anytime as long as it's in a cage, of sorts, labelled.
