This office at Alma St in San Jose, is just amazing. The staff are friendly, efficient and answer your questions. You're IN AND OUT! I renewed my DL and Vehicle Registration in 45 minutes max as a walk-in, no appointment, ohhhh yehhh.. Thank you guys.

I would say 5 stars, so efficient for out of state driver license and car registration. NO Waiting at all if you did your homework ahead of time. Meaning: I applied online and uploaded all doc online, get smoke certificate and original car title as well. With all the preps, things move smoothly while I arrived. Only the vision test is needed. All the Clerks are nice and helpful. MUCH BETTER organized than Michigan. You will spend 4+ hours in Michigan easy….. Washington is good as well, but you need to go different place for car registration instead of DMV.

I was in the DMV a few days ago to transfer my out of state title and apply for a real ID. Most staffs are very friendly and helpful. The place is fairly busy. My original title from Oklahoma got my name spelled wrong, the manager helped me back to my window and changed it. Sir in the window 21 is very helpful and very friendly to me. I got my real ID application very fast. The only person who got an attitude towards me is the lady in the window 4. I didn't know where and which lane is for the vehicle inspection. She was impatient and disrespectful towards me and always had a bad attitude that I had no clue about. To be fair, she had her job done finally. However, I didn't feel like I deserve such an attitude and no one deserves to be treated like that. This DMV is fairly good. My experience is in window 4 is a 2 star if not 1, and my experience in window 21 is a five star. It's a normal DMV and window from window is different. I hope everyone got assigned to a window with a helpful and patient staff. Some tips: For those who need a out of state transfer like me. Please get the vehicle inspection in the **short line close to the front door** first. Park there and ring the bell for inspection, it only requires your title. Then park your car in a parking lot and bring the inspection form inside, get in line and get the title transferred.

Full Service DMV, which gets busy at times and the staff moves you through quite expeditiously. Doreen assisted me with verifying my Commercial Drivers License paperwork. She is a GEM, patient, personable and friendly. PLEASE READ what you need as far as Identification, residency and proving who you are before you ask for assistance here. Available Kiosks if you do not want to wait in line. Be prepared for temperature checks at the door, appointment line is quick, non-appointment line moves quickly and smoothly. Greg assisted me in the test area and gave information necessary on completing my CDL application online. He is knowledgeable, friendly but stern especially if you pass the Blue line which clearly states, "No cell phone/cell phone off area" with a Cell phone or Laptop that is open on your person. They both take their jobs seriously and are wonderful people at this DMV. Thank you to both of you for being essential workers, I appreciate you!
