It gets VERY crowded on the first floor, so if you're interested in looking at their diverse selection of manga, I recommend stopping by earlier in the day. Their upstairs selection is a little less impressive. Besides the depth of their Japanese literature and non-fiction collection, they typically stock recently published books or popular titles. Also have a good selection of cookbooks and magazines. This Kinokuniya has less books than the one in LA - a lot of accessories and journal supplies, but I wouldn't necessarily think I'm getting an authentic bookstore experience here.

This is a great comics shop. The graphic novel selection is well-chosen: I either want or own most of the collections in the shop. The single issues are organized alpha rather than by publishing house, which I like. There's a water cooler, a couch and an art exhibit in the back. The first time I went there, there was a group of musicians playing on the sidewalk out front. The space is nice, the vibe is good, the owner is friendly. A great place to buy your stand-by fav comics and to find new ones to love.

Manga Manga Manga Heaven! They have all the manga series you need here! This is our first time going to a real Japanese bookstore. Japanese magazine too. Mixed with other anime stuff. I love how they labeled where the real Japanese books and English versions of them.

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

COVID restrictions are less, now. You enter through the 2nd floor and the staircase is open. I can imagine if you can't deal with stairs, they have to allow elevator access. I am sure that you just inform the staff that you'd like to shop downstairs but need the elevator that they can make that happen. They are very nice and easy to work with.
