The State of Texas is kicking out the battleship? What’s up with that? The area itself is nasty and surrounded by oil refineries. Elevator to the top of the monument wasn’t working. I would recommend a strongly worded email to Gov. Abbott.

The U.S.S. Texas is the only battleship that was in World War 1 and World War 2. You can see the guns and shells that they used, the size of them, awesome. This past weekend was the last time to tour it before it is taken to Galveston to be refurbished. We enjoyed the history.

This is a favorite day trip for our family! The monument contains a highly educational museum full of artifacts from Texas history, a theater that shows an award-winning short film (that my 10 year old enjoyed enough to "shush" me when I asked him a question), a room full of dioramas that have fascinated me since I was young, and an observation deck at the top with an amazing view! Unfortunately the elevator to the observation deck is currently closed for repairs. There are also walking and hiking trails with information on the plants and animals of the area along the paths, plenty of great picnic areas, and leashed pets are welcome.

Yes it is a very neat place to visit & see all the inside of the ship. So glad we went.
It is very beautiful, but closed for now. Call ahead before you go.
Yes you have to pay to enter the battleship you do not have to pay to enter the tower unless you go up the elevator
I guess there were a few books available for sale
Free but if you go up in elevator, premium area or Movie its $6 per person
No unfortunately it is not. Would be a pretty cool place for tent camping.
No. It's not that kind of park
