I love this theater. The lights could be brighter and the volume could go up, but every show I've seen there has been amazing and I really love the environment of the place. it's very comfortable.

Darling venue - we have season tickets to the Berkeley Community Theater here, and enjoy our visits. Snack bar has best baked goods of any theater I've been to - Sweet Adeline supplies the treats. It's an extremely cramped lobby, and if it's raining, best to stay seated during intermission. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the building is simply gorgeous. DO pitch in for their new spotlight--

I have been going to this theater for many years. Every time I go there I never waste my money. The sets are Beautiful and the singing magnificent! Good prices and good seats. Great for kids and adults.

Just coming home from an extraordinary performance of Ragtime by The Berkeley Playhouse. Excellent musicianship, singing, costumes, stage sets. A first class theater experience. What a treasure this is. Ragtime in particular is resonant with these times, sadly, even a century later.

Following the devastating earthquake and fire that destroyed much of San Francisco in April of 1906, many families moved to the East Bay after losing their homes in the tragic event. Some of these new residents joined about 100 people from the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley to consider the formation of a new congregation. On May 15, 1907, these people petitioned Presbytery to establish a new church in Berkeley, and, on June 16, 1907, this church was officially organized by the Presbytery.
