My service dog's license was processed nearly a month ago and I still have not received his tag. Whenever I call to see what the issue is I'm told to wait another week and if it doesn't show up by Friday to call back and they'll issue him a new one. Only to be told the same exact thing once a week goes by and still no tag.

Have you contacted Animal Regulation? That would be in the City Limits of Red Bluff, so should be reported to the City of Red Bluff Police Department when you see him next.

I have seen kindness and short tempers. I can only hope that the stressful job they have can sometimes get the better of them. All that barking would drive me up a tree. I try to give them the benifit of a little patience.

Animal Regulation is through the Tehama County Sheriffs Department. You can contact them at 530-529-7900 and request the dog be picked up

Does the SPCA pick up Feral cats? There are at least 6 living under storage containers at Super 8 on Gilmore St in Red Bluff. Beautiful cats of varying ages, I'm sure they could be domesticated with time.

Donna Richardson | Feb 26, 2022
Tehama County Animal Care Center | Feb 26, 2022

There is not an SPCA in Tehama County, we are a government run shelter. We do not pick up feral cats, as they are usually happiest and healthiest left in their home environment! We do recommend Trap- Neuter- Release, and there are vouchers available through PETS to assist in those programs.

I need to replace my dogs rabies vaccine How do I go about doing this

joyce sharpe | Jan 27, 2022
Tehama County Animal Care Center | Feb 26, 2022

You need to see a veterinarian to get a rabies vaccine for your pet. If you do not have a regular veterinarian, there is a mobile clinic that visits Tractor Supply in Red Bluff on Sunday afternoons. The details are on the Tractor Supply website.

Ok. Theres like 9 baby kittens here with no owner to them. The kittens get into our camping food and are a big problem. Who do I contact and will they charge me for picking them up them being not mine

just a sheep | Aug 25, 2021
Tehama County Animal Care Center | Aug 25, 2021

Cats and kittens are not regulated in Tehama County, and are generally happiest and healthiest when left to their own devices! If you absolutely need them removed from the space, you can request to be placed on our surrender waiting list, and we will contact you when we have space to house them. We do charge a surrender fee in that instance. Otherwise, you can get the kittens fixed so they are not reproducing. PETS offers vouchers for spay/neuter, which you can obtain by calling (530) 527-8702

Does anyone know if these people charge to surrender a dog

Hi Crystal! Thanks for asking. Unfortunately we do charge to surrender your pet, but right now we do not have the room for another dog. We are currently utilizing a waiting list for people who need to surrender their pets. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact the Animal Care Center at 530-527-3439.

I have 50 + stray cats within 3 square blocks in the neighborhood where I live They are flea ridden and poop in my yard where my little girl plays. What can I do to fix this problem and what are you doing to fix it

Scott Reid | Aug 26, 2019
Tehama County Animal Care Center | Aug 25, 2020

Unfortunately this is an all too common problem! Tehama County does not have the resources to regulate cats, and their are no ordinances in place restricting cats to stay on their owners property. With that many cats, it is likely that someone in your neighborhood is feeding the cats. We would recommend talking with that person to help coordinate trapping and fixing the feral cats, to eliminate reproducing and keep the males from spraying. In addition, if there are friendly cats that would make good pets for people, you can call us and request to be added to the cat waiting list. Good luck!

are we a no kill shelter here?

Catie Priest | Aug 26, 2019
Tehama County Animal Care Center | Aug 26, 2019

We do our best to limit euthanasia whenever possible. There are instances where an animal may have an untreatable medical issue or a behavioral issue that makes the animal a danger to people or other animals. In those instances, we do euthanized animals. These decisions are challenging each and every time, and we do not make them lightly. However, our live release rate is around 90% of all animals, something we are very proud of! We do not euthanize animals because they have been in our care too long, as long as they are healthy and happy.

We adopted a German Shepherd mix and love her dearly. She was sick when picked up off the streets. The Vet they have there hand fed her and nursed her back to health.
