Went on the website to order an extractor it says they will call for shipping prices. So you still have to submit the order ahead of time. Once we found our how expensive it was going to be to ship ($170!!) We canceled the order. Allen then lied and said it would be a $35 charge from PayPal. When we contacted PayPal about the issue they said its not true and issued us the entire refund. His emails are extremely rude and he then now claims it cost him $50 for our order. This man is the worst and shouldn't be in business as he clearly has no idea what customer service is. How about next time include your shipping prices on the website. He is just wanting to pocket the money. Its too bad for this business because they missed out on a lot of money from us. Now we have gone to another business who is very kind and trustworthy. Go elsewhere for your beekeeping needs.

I did not enjoy any interaction with the owner of this establishment. I believe his name is Allen. He was very rude. First of all, he called me a few days after my transaction over the phone with him to ask me what time I scheduled the pickup for my bees. Then I called him about almost two weeks later to con firm my time with him as I was making sure I didn’t miss the pick up, and he had the audacity to yell at me on the phone about not writing the time down. When in turn, even he hadn’t wrote it down. Mind you the other few exchange of words I had with him were very unpleasant as well. He’s very impatient, and irritable, and he’s not very informative. Would not recommend getting bees here if you are big on customer service.

This man knows bees!! Great source of information, equipment, honey, and yes, BEES! Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I got there as he was closing and he still spent 35 minutes talking with me and answering my questions. Awesome experience.

I have made several purchases from Hillside Apiaries (Allen sp?) over the past couple of years. They have good products, will generally match prices, and are close enough to drive and pick up items needed quickly. I also ordered package bees from Hillside this year and was happy with the bees and transaction. When the shipment/pickup was delayed due to weather I recieved a prompt phone call and was able to work out a new time without issue. Just make sure you call first before driving there, it is a one man show and if he isn't available the door is locked and better luck next time. Over all a nice business with good products that are on the shelf and ready when you are!
