After searching for about a year to bring my mother from Washington DC to be closer to me and my family in Melrose, we decided on The Forestdale Community. The Forestdale community has made the transition as comforting and welcoming as possible. Mom suffered a stroke prior to her moving here and the attention and care she constantly receives has been wonderful for her. The adjustment was initially hard, but her adjustment was surprisingly fast and she now feels comfortable and safe in her new home. Decorating has been a passion of mom's and she has brought this with her. She takes pride in her apartment, and she has made it feel like home, abet smaller. We all love visiting her in her new "home". The apartment has high ceilings and large windows making it bright and airy which is very important to her and surprisingly hard to find. The many activities Forestdale offers from art and exercise classes, to poetry readings, to monthly country/cultural studies and a garden club just to name a few, keep her interests stimulated while building friendships and community. The staff as a whole are attentive and kind. The facility is small enough to feel homey and not overwhelming and the food is very good. There are many outdoor spaces to enjoy the good weather. Moving to an assisted living community is a pretty traumatic event for the whole family and the Forestdale community has made us feel that we made the right decision and picked the right community.

It is hard to trust anyone with the health and safety of your family. When that family member is ailing, vulnerable, and reeling from a relocation from Florida, it gets even harder. It took me about a month...But over the last year and a half, I never regretted trusting the staff of Forestdale with my mother's care. While I could go on and on about the quality of its dining, the variety of its social/cultural programs, or comfort of its accommodations; the ultimate measure of an assisted living facility is the compassion it shows for its residents. Through a major stroke, a lingering pandemic, and a half dozen other minor crises, the staff of Forestdale's kindness and patience never wavered. Even at the end, with my mother's body failing and my heart breaking, I never worried about her care. It is a comfort I will always be grateful for.

My friend was here for two months while recovering from hip surgery. She received excellent care. Beautiful facility and skilled staff. They were very responsive to her needs and went out of their way to make her feel welcome. I would recommend Forestdale Park to anyone looking for assisted living.

My mother moved to Forestdale Park three weeks ago. She loves it and we can not be happier. The building is beautiful and kept immaculate. My mom’s studio apartment is spacious and very modern. The most important thing is the caring staff. Terri and Sarah the directors were so helpful and kind with arranging my mom’s move. The food is fabulous!!! Lisa the chef is amazing . She spends time talking to mom about nutrition and healthy eating. The waitstaff are kind, quick and efficient. The personal care assistants treat mom with dignity snd kindness and they are well trained. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. Eric, the head of maintenance does a great job. The activities staff are encouraging, motivating, and do friendly. We are so relieved to have my mother living in such a wonderful place where she is safe and thriving! Nancy Terranova

Thank you for your question. While Forestdale Park is mostly a private pay senior community, we do work with several financial programs to help offset the cost of assisted living. Executive Director Kristen Duggan is an expert on such programs and would encourage you to schedule a visit to discuss your financial questions one-on-one to better understand your unique needs and help to find you the right fit.

Hi Donnamarie! Thank you for reaching out! Our community is a private pay assisted living and memory care community; We do not work with MassHealth or Medicare. The Mass. Assisted Living Association's Resource Guide may be able to help you locate an appropriate community. I would also encourage you to reach out to Kristen, our Executive Director, who can discuss with you the financial programs that Forestdale Park does work with that may be available to you.

Good afternoon: We have an elderly family member who has been told he will need to relocate this fall. Are your units priced for low income? Do you allow a pet? We need some guidance here. He's been in the same location for 30+ years. Thank you

Starting the search for an Assisted Living Community can be daunting, so we are happy to answer your questions and help you through the process! Our community is mainly private pay, but we offer some ways to help offset the costs of Assisted Living (call us for more info). We do allow pets if residents can care for their pets themselves. The best way to learn more about our community is to visit our website or give us a call!

Are you located in a residential neighborhood?

Yes! Our location is great. We are on the Melrose/Malden line in a nice residential neighborhood. It’s easy to get anywhere fairly quickly because we are close to Route 1, Route 93 and the Fellsway. One major benefit of our location is that the Forestdale Elementary School is right behind us and we have a good relationship with them. We do some wonderful intergenerational programming to bring the residents and school children together. Our residents love every minute of it.

We often have apartments available for rent right away, so give us a call to find out! We have 3 apartments for independent living with their own entrances. We have 59 apartments in our assisted living community - a mix of studio and one-bedrooms. Assisted living residents have access to lots of amenities and personal care services. And, we have 18 apartments in our secure Compass Memory Support Neighborhood that caters exclusively to individuals with dementia. Our prices range from low for independent living, to higher for assisted living, to the highest for memory care. Exact costs depend upon services/type of apartment. When you call we will give you current pricing for your desired living situation and care needs, as well as exactly what services and amenities will be included.

We definitely can provide a wonderful home and care for your Mom! Your total monthly cost will depend on what personalized care services your Mom needs. Our community is unique in that we have several financial programs that can reduce your monthly payment. We accept a special medical insurance program that offsets the cost. We help residents who are veterans (or spouses of veterans) take advantage of a VA benefit that provides $1,000+/month toward their payment. We also accept long-term care insurance. And, we have some studio apartments at below-market rates for qualified low to moderate income seniors. Our basic monthly fee covers a lot: your apartment, emergency pull cord system, 3 meals, housekeeping & maintenance, linen laundry, EnrichedLIFE programs and activities, and van transportation. Give us a call to let us know what your situation is. We can usually give a good ballpark number over the phone.
