Amazing trail. The river and falls are added bonus. Lush green woods and serene environment. Felt very peaceful and relaxed. Very few people were there on the day which made it a bit scary as a bear was seen about a week ago.

Good trail for younger kids for a short hike. The hand tram is still closed with no date on reopening. Instead, take the small trail down the river and take a break before heading back to the car.

Beautiful hike though what looked like Boreal forest with a river crossing in a hand tram and a couple of wood bridges you can cross. Hike is suitable for almost any age. It's only 1 mile to the hand tram and if you just want to experience that you can do a 2 mile loop and head back. Longer hikes are available to the Aleyska resort and further up canyon. Mosquitoes were minimal and I didn't see much wildlife. Lots of interesting mushrooms if you keep your eyes peeled. The trail is very popular so if you want to do the hand tram under your own power you'll need to get there really early. There's a bus that will take you from the nearby town to the trailhead. This is a nice option as the road is unpaved

Excellent, well marked trail. It's a fairly easy hike for children and adults. A ways down the trail is a hand tram that can be taken across Glacier Creek. There is stunning beauty all around and the blue water in the creek is amazing. If you want a longer hike, start down at the Alyeska resort and hike up to the tram.

Questions & Answers

Are the trails open and in good walkable condition in early May?

Open yes! Early May will vary from year to year, parts of the trail are usually still pretty muddy.

What are the hours for the hand tram?

As far as i know, its seasonal. Meaning they remove it in the winter and reinstall it in the spring. Once its installed, there are no hours, its just there to use if needed. The cable, supports and terminals on both sides stay in place year round. The trolley assembley is whats removed and reinstalled.
