My son-in-law and I just just completed an awesome stay at Bighorn Fly and Tackle. We took the four night three day guided float package and have to say the it was worth every cent and met every single expectation we had. Duane and Diane are the ultimate hosts. The food was excellent. The room was exactly as expected. Gail was very helpful. The fishing was outstanding! We caught more fish and bigger fish than I could have imagined. Huge 'bows and brownies! At least a half dozen times Mike and I were both fighting fish simultaneously! We have no doubt that all this was only possible because of our outstanding guide, Rob Cadle, Sergeant Major, USMC, Retired (29 years active duty), 14 years guiding full time. I will never schedule another trip to Montana if I cannot book Rob too. Mike and I plan to bring Mike's twin 16 yo daughters, both seriously hooked fly fishing novices, on our next trip. Can't wait!

Great place to stay. Rooms are completely remodeled. They are really the best I have stayed in, in that area. Gale is a super nice host and Duanne is a great guy as well. The dinners were excellent and my guide Beau McFadyean was the best. Hard working and knowledgeable. I will be back again.

Absolutely amazing trip! My Dad, brother and a great friend of ours went for 3 days of fishing and 4 nights to stay. All of the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, experienced, and professional. The dinners served were excellent every evening. Gail is an absolute gem and our guides were true lovers of the game of fly fishing and put us in the fish all three days. I can't say enough good things about this establishment and their people. I will be back.

Questions & Answers

Hi - we are planning a fishing trip in mid August and are trying to get ready. Generally what kind of flies do you think will work that time of year? I know it's hard to tell - just a guess will do. Thanks! Can't wan't wait to see your shop!

Typically by mid August we are pretty well into our caddis hatches. The most prominent are the black caddis but some tan and sedge as well. Best patterns are Elk hair caddis in sizes 16-18. Also in a good year there are terrestials such as hoppers and ants. Good patterns are Morrish hopper or More Or Less hopper colors tan sizes 8-12. As for ants use Bill's flying ant color black sizes 12-14. Good Luck!
