Can a park ranger please explain how you came up with the distances. The last 0.2 was a 0.5 and the 1.6 from the trailhead was about 2. Good hike with the dog.

A relatively easy trail, with a lot of good scenery. The falls are not exactly spectacular, but they are nice to sit by.

One of my favorite hikes even in the winter! Way more peaceful then seven bridges.

Rewarding and Challenging. The first mile is a little blah, but the rest offers some nice views. There is plenty of cover as well so taking the hike midday is fine. There is a steady elevation climb, and if you aren't used to the higher altitude then you might want to put this off until you are more acclimated. One thing to note, which I have seen others mention in their reviews, and that is the sign that says "St. Mary's Falls 0.2m". When you see this sign DO NOT GO STRAIGHT, instead make a near 90 degree turn to the right and follow the trail up. Going straight will take you off the intended trail and you'll be facing a rough 45 degree incline for the last few hundred feet.

Trail would be considered moderate to easy at times. Not much climbing but a steady incline to the falls
To the falls is rated intermediate, beginners might have a tough time at some of the inclines. Make sure to take plenty of water. The views from the top of the rock formation above the falls are fantastic.
That's what I was thinking. We met a couple on the trail that said we could "refill our waterbottles" at the top, and we were pretty confused. I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me who was skeptical.
No fees. You've just got to get there early enough to get a parking spot!
