I do not recommend it. Hospital screening is not mandatory, you can refuse. We did it without really understanding what it was and my wife signed on an electronic screen without actually being able to read what I signed or find out that she was giving her consent for them to record information about her and the baby. Because after a birth one has no head to think. That's why they take advantage of that moment instead of doing it in prenatal appointments. It also makes no sense to do a screening if they do not take into account the results.

Amazing people!

We are so sorry you weren't given a clear explanation of our programs and services. Healthy Start is required by state law to complete a newborn screen to ensure the health of mom and baby. There is a place within the paperwork that allows families to decline service or program offerings provided by Healthy Start and/or our community partners. We apologize about any confusion.
Thank you for your post. Your records were sent to you on February 19th as you requested for the services we provided to you and your family.
