They offer great seminars on gardening, water conservation, mulching, and composting. They have composting barrels and starter worm farm (worms not included) kits for considerably less than retail prices. They also have rain barrels for L.A. City residents. I just wish they accepted credit/debt cards. Right now they accept only personal checks. You can also pick-up mulch and 2 grades of compost for free. Don’t forget to bring your shovel and bags/containers.

I get my free Compost here, and my giant $20 Compost bins. There are three grades for the compost from super fine to mulch. Great for mixing with existing dirt at home and for growing flowers or vegetables. The mulch is good for growing pumpkins.

I'm not sure when they replenish the mulch and composts but unless you are planning on filling up a uhaul truck with it I have found that there is always ample amounts of both.
