Believe the hype! The new bridge is a sight to behold, especially at sunset and dusk (see my photos, no filters!). Let people express themselves, this city needs more spaces like this.

Over half a billion dollars spent, many years and many teams of people in planning, and we end up with bike lanes that look like a retrofit rather than an original conscious design. Why, why, why are we completely useless at designing anything that doesn't serve cars. There's no need for two driving lanes in each direction, the world didn't fall apart when there were no cars passing this bridge during construction. It didn't have to be so car-centric, the bike lanes that double as emergency lanes for cars because of some arbitrary guideline, are a JOKE. The walking experience is only marginally better, there's no shade and and it's an endless sea of concrete. I tried walking the span of it this week and couldn't because of the scorching heat, add to that the loud sound of traffic and it's not a pleasant experience. The city had a chance to make a statement, add bus-only lanes, have light-rail go through it, make it a pedestrian and bike only bridge, something. Instead we have more of the same, an infrastructure project with 90% of consideration taken for drivers. The ramps are nice, the renders of the future park underneath looks nice, but the bridge itself is a massive failure. I remember the architect saying they are trying to correct mistakes of the past and make multi-modal transport more than just an afterthought. Well, now that we have the final product we can see how that was total BS. I'd like to know what goes through the heads of city officials, architects, and engineers to think this is okay. How did they not foresee the problems they're having right now with people doing donuts and races along the bridge, the design lends itself to this, it looks like a racetrack. The construction guidelines are massively outdated and need to be changed, It's embarrassing for a supposedly world class city. That being said, it looks stunning at night against the LA skyline.

Very beautiful bridge. Hope they start the LA river project soon too.

The 'New' 6th Street Bridge connecting Boyle Heights with DTLA looks to be an engineering feat of great importance to the many surrounding communities. BUT, coming in with a Whopping Price of $580 MILLION, that is just 'over the top'. This will be most evident once it becomes 'stained' by the onslaught of disgusting 'graffiti' from the local 'trash' that just can't seem to leave well enough alone... watch 'n see !!

Usually after 9pm if there's been illegal activities being performed
Its a bridge…the entrance and exits are on either side i believe. Its just another street
I wish!
We parked near the intersection of 8th and Boyle and walked a long long way
About 80 ft wide And 3000 ft long
Construction has been completed of new bridge. Access is open now and costing California, LA County and LA City taxpayers just over $ 588 million dollars !!
