A lovely place. All furry friends are well taken care of and waiting for a forever home and family.

We had appointment to look at two dog the first one was a little shy and the lady would not stop playing with the dog and holding him. We were there to see how the dog would react with us not them. When she had left the room to ask the manager a question we had finally got to see how the dog would act around us. We filled out the application and got told on sight that probably won’t get accepted for the dog that we had chose. The reason being because they don’t have kids as young has my fiancé’s daughter and they were “unsure of how the dog would act a round young kids” but the dog had already been tested around kids but they 9 or so. Just because of that it my family unintelligible for adoption. I do not recommend to this shelter with high hopes of adopting. For a place trying to find animals homes, they act as if you have to be the most perfect family suited to their standards and making it almost impossible to actually be able to adopt.

I've gotten 2 dogs from here. My first was Abby who acted so frightened of me that she would shake when I would hold her and pet her. I bought a second dog and they were the same as siblings. Now, Abby hears my voice and she gets so excited, she is my little baby girl. The other dogmas my best friend but a couple of months ago he passed.I had Abby and his name was Gibbs as in NCIS. My sin and I were pretty broken up after the loss if Gibbs. I happened to see one day , while looking at Acarf online I find Tony, as in Dinozzo and a couple of days later he lives with me. He doesn't replace Gibbs but he's now another member of the family. He, like Abby, is now a member of the family and has made the loss if Gibbs so much easier. I think the people at acarf were kinda sad to see him go and he felt the same way but is happy with his new home. I think the pets are well taken care of and from my experience, are shown lots of love. Thank you so much for both of my kids. I highly recommend.

Walk in the front door.

Do you guys have bunny’s? and if so what’s the cost to adopt one?

Humboldt Tiktok | May 15, 2021
Robyn Porter | May 16, 2021

We do not have any bunnies; ACARF is only licensed for dogs and cats. The closest rabbit rescue organization that I am aware of is the House Rabbit Society of Missouri, in Fenton, Missouri. Their website is https://www.morabbit.org. Hope this is helpful!

Can an application be filled out now so its on file when I'm ready to adopt?

Yes, we can do that. If it will be more than a year before you adopt, we will ask to fill out another application.

How do I go about adopting one of the 6 dogs that a person went to court over

Lori Gilbert | Jul 14, 2020
Keli Armstrong | Jul 15, 2020

I would just call during business hours and speak with pretty much anyone. They are all very helpful, and getting dogs adopted is very important for space and cost. By the way thank you for wanting to take one of them in!

Do u have room for a small semi friendly calico kitten

Sara Blevins | Jul 14, 2020
ACARF Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (Owner) | Jul 15, 2020

Sarah, sadly at this time, we are full and have no room to take any cats or kittens. We typically only take friendly cats that we will be able to adopt to families. We do have a Barn Cat program. If you call the shelter, at 620-496-3647, our staff can give you more information regarding this program.

How much does acsrf charge for a city to bring a dog in

Susan Luedke | Nov 16, 2020
ACARF Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (Owner) | Nov 17, 2020

To answer Sharon about our charges to bring in "found" dogs: You should always call first to see if we have room to accept a "found" dog or cat. As you might imagine, we are oftentimes full; if we cannot accept the pet, we can help you in alternative ways. If we DO have room, there is no fee for residents of Allen County, although we accept donations gratefully. For those who reside outside Allen County to bring in a "found" pet, the fee is $15, plus any additional donation the person might wish to add.
