If you're looking for a quintessential thing to do in Newtown, it's a sandwich (breakfast or lunch) from the General Store. Gluten Free options make this a picky eaters watering hole. Not only that, but the history - old newspapers framed on the wall including the day the US declared war on Japan- and shop with cute one-of-a-kind art pieces make this a destination worth travelling to. I no longer live in the area but ALWAYS make time for a sandwich when I visit.
