My partner came in last week to get some impacted earwax taken care of. The staff on duty examined the ear and couldn't see the eardrum, so they ordered an irrigation. Their firehose to the ear technique had little to no improvement on hearing and the staff were still unable to see the eardrum, so they told my partner her ear was likely infected and sent her home with antibiotics. Shortly after, she started getting severe nausea and ear pain, along with complete loss of hearing in the irrigated ear. We went to a different urgent care later that evening. and the staff there instantly identified the issue - the ear was still fully impacted with wax. They conducted a proper ear irrigation that didn't rely on brute force and was instantly 100% effective. They advised my partner that her eardrum was in good shape and that they saw no sign of infection. It's been a week since then and no further issues. The staff at UCSD Express Care not only failed to effectively treat the issue, their lack of expertise made it worse and led them to provide a misdiagnosis that required another visit to another provider to fix. Avoid this facility if at all possible.

I reserved an appointment and confirmed that they lost, and when I said it would take an hour and when I said I’d wait, they told me it would be 1:00 (2 hours later). I’m a student with class, and I could not come back at one despite that she kept asking me to come back at 1. Why did the story suddenly change? Their mannerisms made me very uncomfortable, and they made it very clear I was not welcome—horrible people.
