Very well organized and efficient. Although I had an out of state license, staff was able to retrieve my CA license from many *cough* many, years ago. Updated my photo, took my renewal test, done. About an hour total. I was really needing a win this week, and I got mine at the DMV. Crazy.

Wow!!! I normally associate going to the DMV with going to the dentist. "Sorry Dentist". Poway DMV changed that outlook. I had the most helpful and cheerful employees I've ever encountered at this DMV. Leo was the first person I met when I first checked in. He was amazing, he calmly walked me through the tedious paperwork that had to be completed before going to the window to get my boat and trailer registered in my name. Next I was greeted by (I think his name was Joe Lopez), who helped finalize the painful paperwork to get everything completed. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better customer service! Great job to whoever is running this DMV office! Your leadership style really has paid off. PS. I rarely write a review but this was so outstanding that I had to give kudos where it was do!!!

Katie is the employee who helped me and she was polite, friendly, and efficient. My whole experience, to get a real ID, took only 10 minutes. I recommend having an appointment! Every employee I encountered, starting with the gentleman who checked me in and ending with the young lady who took the picture was helpful and had a great attitude.

Pretty amazing. I got here about 11amish, maybe 2 dozen people in the building. Everyone was really helpful, lets face it most people don't go to the DMV everyday of the week. I was in and out in about an hour. Not bad considering I did not have an appointment or even fill out my info online first. I was able to upgrade my I.D. to a REAL ID and do an address change. You guys are great, this disabled senior thanks you!! Definitely one of the better DMV offices in San Diego county!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
as soon as you get pulled over. they won't let you drive the car away if nobody has a valid license could be towed
I think they do a great job considering the lack of help
If you mean are the tests administered on a computer and you select the answer via screen touch, then yes. That is how they do the written test at Poway.
I don’t know I’m asking you
I have loss my dp card Would like to have a new one placard number was : 273422K. I am permanently disabled
Smog should be valid for 3 months, then you will need to re-smog.
Wait times are hit and miss. I find going right when they open on Tuesdays or Thursdays is best without an appointment. Don't go after 4pm - they won't service you. Be sure to bring ssa card Brith cert or passport and TWO bills with your residence. If you only bring one bill it will be a headache next time you review. Note instead of standing in the main line you immediately go left at the front door to the partitioned wall and they will verify your docs and give you a number there. A guard usually tells you about this. Expect about two hours on those days. Expect 4 hours on Monday and Friday
I think they use Debit Cards
Yes they do
It's implemented. Just give them your #.
SIR, FOR THE THIRD TIME, YOU HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. and please stop yelling.
Yes you can, but you might be potentially waiting longer.
hello, you need your current i.d. or driver license, proof of residence [copy of your lease or utility bill] and your birth certificate. Best of luck !
You need EITHER a VALID US passport, or birth certificate, and 2 residency documents, such as a water bill, SDGE, cable, or bank statements. Both must have same name and address.
9f course. Get your necessary documentation (on website), take a number and wait to be served.
Study the questions 3 times per day. Practice driving in vacant parking lots .Use your brain not your cell.
Take the practice tests. They come directly from there
Since you're coming from out of state I think you might have to take a 25 question test for the California laws other than that I don't think there is any other test or exams that you have to take
You may walk in anytime per my experience. Poway DMV have organized very well through this tough time of covid. Having appointment certainly helps to speed past wait time.
The DMV staff is short handed. It's faster if you go in person.
Just fill out the drivers license application online and pay for it when you get there. They say you can make an appointment but the website wouldn't let me. I just went there without one and it was fine. And don't look for a specific permit application, it's the same for a license or permit. You'll have to fill out the same one and pay the fee again for your license.
If you have no tickets/ moving violations, you should be able to renew online
I think that would be smart to avoid waiting in longer lines. The length of the lines varies throughout the day. Good luck!
Check if the address on the file is proper, just in case you moved out. Usually it takes about 3 weeks,. Like others mentioned, you better call DMV
Out of state licenses they cover on their website....I think your ok with evidence of your address in ca. But you still have to go to the DMV.
It doesn't take much time if you walk in. For me it took around an hour. For Real ID you need to carry her original SSN I believe. But if possible, please take an appointment right now for that date.
I didn't receive any photograph on receipt. Just got temporary license.
I think yes
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/make-an-appointment/
I don't suggest making an appointment. It could take months. Just go in there give yourself some time. Or perhaps go to a AAA if you have membership. Good luck.
You still need a state issued ID. If you want to travel your need a pass port or real id. Even to go in to a government building. Can always call for verification. But most states this is protocall to what the state law requires
I was there earlier this week without an appointment and had to wait 40 mins before I was called up to take my written test 👍🏾
You might be able to do it online. Then go in, saves time. I did everything online, then got a confirmation number and showed it at the door. In and out in less than 45 minutes!
I believe you can do it online. Login and see. Good luck!
Currently the DMV looks like it is closed on Saturdays
She gone
When I went there no unfortunately. But you can always contact them and ask
It's a long waiting process, most of the time you will be in rear queue waiting for screen test, and the other time waiting in your car waiting for your number. Ensure to have all documents or they may simply ask you to leave and return when you have it.
The line in front is for appointment only, you will need to go in the back if you don't have one.
Get a AAA card then use AAA to change your address on your car.. Go to your bank have them give you some kind of statement with your new address on it. That's how I did my new address change. Then you'll need preferably your birth certificate. I first tried my passport that didn't work they told me some passports don't work you can try that first if you have to. If you don't have your birth certificate good luck cuz the office is closed.
unfortunately it seems DMV is not giving out any appointments for anything other than behind the wheel tests you would need to go to the DMV office and stand in line. I was told to avoid Mondays and Fridays with Thursday being the best day try to go as early as possible to avoid waiting very long
Make sure you have All the paper work they request. You will be checked for it before you enter.Online I'd form Print It! Take it with you....the more you have all paperwork.....the faster it will go.took me less than 10 minutes.
Appointments are usually weeks if not months into the future. If you're going to go tomorrow, I'd suggest going later in the day. When I was there a couple weeks ago, one of the workers actually said that towards the end of the day there not many people there. Everyone comes in the morning thinking they can "beat the rush" but by the afternoon it's pretty quiet.
I think they are already accepting walk in written test.
I had a permit when i was 18 and since your only given a year to take the drivers test, it expired on me so yes i had to retake the permit test. The permit is si you can practice for the drivers test. So bottom line, no you are not allowed to drive with an expired permit. If you passed the permit test without any problems it shouldn't be any harder the second time.
They can look you up. And it'll simply go out to your address of record. They likely can pull up your face as well. I recently had to replace my card as it was lost. I brought a different ID, but it didn't seem like they needed it anyways.
Masked and 6ft apart. I don't think hey are taking new appointments now, just getting people whose appointments were canceled the last few months. You have to go and get in the long line and wait outside. If hardship, let them know. They may squeeze you in.
o
Go to dmv.ca.gov I think you can do that online right now. I had to go into a DMV office because I moved here and had a AZ lic.
Not sure, I believe it has to be in person so they can establish your identity.
He has to fill out the ID application where he has to upload all his documents and it is posted on the DMV website.
I think so, if they close at 5
If you have the vin license plate numbers then you should be able to enter them online. It will tell you if you need smog.
No, the closest one is at Ralph's on Carmel Mountain road
It's better to get the Real ID at this point so that you don't need passport for domestic air travel. You'll need one ID proof, one SSN proof and two CA residency proofs (bank statement, utility bill, lease agreement).
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday afternoons are typically slowest. Avoid Wednesday mornings because it opens at 9am instead of 7am. Since opening at 7am, weekday morning lines except Wednesdays are fairly short. Avoid school breaks and days surrounding holidays.
He needs to take the permit test. He does not need courses. He does not need to hold his permit for six months.
I don't think so...but check on DMV website.
Yes 8-5
Any in the county
Bring birth certificate, social security card, 2 Bill's showing residency and fill out paperwork online DMV before you go so you have a code number for your online info. Saves time to do this before you go to DMV. 👍
Go to eDLapp.DMV.ca.gov Start electronic application first There is a list of documents you must bring with too to complete the process a certified birth certificate or the original one!
You must visit a DMV office for that info. Also, you must be the registered owner to obtain that info.
Also, you can go online at https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/online/nrl/welcome and fill out the information to release the liability on the car. You will need the details of the car (year, make, model, miles) as well as the new owners information (name, address, selling price). You can do this right as you sell the car and your liability is removed so if they get in an accident that day, it is out of your hands. It is date and time stamped, keep that for your records.
No, but you have to wait in line. It's a toss up though. Make an appointment & wait in line or wait a couple hours in line.
$36 to renew
No
At least 15 minutes
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/idinfo/idcard To apply for an ID card you will need to do the following: Complete a Driver License or Identification Card Application. Visit a DMV office (appointments are recommended). Provide your social security number. It will be verified with the Social Security Administration while you are in the office. Verify your Identity. If your current name no longer matches the name on your Identity document, see "True Full Name" and "How to Change Your Name" for more information. Present your acceptable residency document if you have never had a California driver license or California identification card. Pay the application fee. (No fee for a senior citizen ID card.) Give a fingerprint scan. Have your photograph taken.
Poway? Yes new lcd monitors & bigger lobby.
It's on the plate
Your personal information and hers
Write off a weekday to it. Bring a cooler with cold beer and snacks, a comfortable folding chaise lounge, and your iPad or other entertainment; if you don't want to sound like everyone else describing dmv visits.
Call the office to check
Yes, they are open 8am-5pm today.
Nope. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/about/holidays
Nope. Only terminals they have are for the "written" test
Its every other Saturday
Check the email address you provided for appointment information.
No
Do you mean a disabled parking tag? There is no such thing as a senior citizen tag
Yes you can, provided ypu already went through the TSA screening process.
They stop testing by 4p
Yes. Pretty busy though. Line starts forming 1-2 hrs before opening
An appointment is recommended. You may also walk in, but sometimes the wait times are inconvenient.
20 minutes before closing
You cannot operate a vehicle without a license. If the license expires you most likely have to renew it and pay the fee as if applying for a new one.
Wait for the title to come in the mail.
2 other forms of ID and proof off address as well as the renewal fee
Call the office and ask
It depends on how busy they are, usually a couple of hours minimum. Better to walk in 15-20 minutes before closing time.
No, but it would be helpful to make an appointment. You are given priority over walk ins .
Either walk in or schedule an appointment online.Fill an application, take the test needed, pay fee and take your picture, & wait for the actual license to come in the mail. They will issue a temporary in the meantime.
Not if renewing renewing a vehicles tags. If renewing a drivers license you may need to take a test either vision, written or maybe even behind the wheel. I'm sure they will let you know.
You can either walk in and wait however long it takes you to wait or make an appointment and be first served at time of appointment.
Go to their website and you will be given options there. Or you can walk in & just plan to be there for the day.
Go on the website dmv.ca.gov and check it out make any changes there.
Notify DMV of changes
Make an appointment or you will be waiting for a long time.
If she provided the real documentation like legit USA passport, state verified ID, USA birth certificate, permanent resident card, as identification along with Social security card & proof of mailing address she's good.she most likely will receive a real I'd as this is what they require. Also take a note at her receipt, the clerk wrote RID on mine on the left side above the DMV lettering/Logo.
Typically 2 weeks out at best
I paid for personalized plates AWOL92 are they in yet
Is she hot?
Go straight to jail do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars
