Designed for mules, but works great for bikes and hikes. This is a lovely trail with water on both sides. Some history and some hydraulics.

I came while there was snow so I could not see a lot. I have been along various parts of the canal. It is great for hiking and enjoying nature. This spot has a lot of history. Nice to see how things worked in the past. Nice town nearby. The Millstone river bridge is nearby.

The canal in general is a unique place to walk or ride your bike. Personally, I prefer to walk with my dog on the tow path that borders the land as opposed to the one that borders the lake simply because it is far less crowded. The downside of course is that tow path on the land side is very short.

This is a beautiful section of the trail. Parking there can be a bit crowded though.

The park is open all year long,, although it is more a walking and biking trail than a picnic area.. i can't think of anyplace were there are picnic tables let alone covered picnice tablets. But the park extends from Trenton to New Brunswick and i have only used the portion between Trenton and Rocky Hill. I know there is a picnic area off of Alexander Rd in Princeton, but I don't think any of it is covered. There is at least one place in Pa across from the Wildflower Preserve that has several pavilions.
Hello Tom, I don't think so. The trail itself is pretty narrow between the canal and another little canal to the side. I think there is camping available around the trail but not along.
A few hundred feet.
Between rt1 and rt27 is about 2.1 miles with parking on each end. The trail extends beyond rt 27 for some more miles.
