We turned around at the sign private property not knowing that beyond that was a public road to the parking lot. Missed an opportunity to see what looks like a lovely area.

Of course not. It's a preserve and there is absolutely nothing there to fish anyway. If you're looking to fish close by there your best bet is Carnegie Lake.
