Upscale Mediterranean eatery with a great atmosphere and wonderful outdoor seating! Shak's sits at the end of the main street in downtown Vista, and is positively abuzz with fun atmosphere. The outdoor seating benefits greatly from a nice breeze blowing through the area with great views of the street an d the park across the way. We got a half order of hummus to start, which was more than enough for the two of us. This came with bottomless house-made pita triangles. I had the shawarma beef combo for my main, which was beautifully seasoned and came as a bowl, pita wrap, or salad. The crisp sear on the beef really added a nice texture to compliment the spices. I got a red-eye to drink, which was tequila based with pomegranate syrup and garnished with a candied sage leaf. Once I mixed the beverage, it was quite refreshing on a hot summer day.

This is a delicious eatery! I'm picky when it comes to falafel, but their falafel is wonderfully seasoned! Alongside their soft, pillowy pita bread and fresh tomato and onion: the pita is a must try! Their fries are good, if you like a lot of salt on yours, you'll have to ask for some because they came very plain. The staff is very kind and attentive, too! The ambience is really nice, with bathrooms that are clean and private which is always a bonus. Overall, I recommend if you're in the area and craving some Mediterranean food. Very yummy and great experience!

We took our 86 yr old friend to lunch at Shak's. It our favorite patio dining. The quality of the Mediterranean menu is always exceptional and the service is great.

I got the gyro salad and wife got the chicken shish kabob salad. Both were excellent. Next time I'd like to get the Shak's combo salad that has chicken, gyro, and falafel.
