When it rains it pours.. today was one of the hardest days I had in a while. The vet tech that seen Gus tonight was so nice to me. Like her kindness brightened my night. So huge shoutout to her! đ also, she was so good with my boy

My experience with VCA Animal Hospital was horrible. It was Sunday morning and I called VCA and described my dog's issue and asked if I needed an appointment. I was told no, bring her in. When I arrived, I was asked if I had an appointment. After telling the intake person why I brought my dog in, she told me that they currently are not seeing dogs unless it is a life or death situation. But they could triage her (for 161.00), and then send me somewhere else (for another fee + treatment). They turned away my sick dog, gave me misinformation on the phone that wasted my time and time to get my dog treated, and dismissed me without regard for me or my dog. There were only two people in the waiting room whose animals were already being seen, but they turned mine away. I'm disgusted by the whole situation, from the phone call to being dismissed to get help elsewhere. If your precious pet needs emergency care, steer clear of this place. Go to Route 66 Hospital for the best and most compassionate care you will get for your pet, and for you.

DO NOT waste your time or your money taking your fur babies here. I made the mistake of taking my boy there today for what I later found out was a herniated disk in his neck, which is VERY serious, but I was told it was not an emergency and that my dog was probably just âseeking attentionâ. I wound up sitting in the waiting room for an hour and a half. I went to ask one of the girls at the front desk for an update on my boyâs condition, and I was told, âYouâre just going to have to sit and wait, or you can go home and weâll call you once heâs ready to go home. But, the technicians have told us not to âbugâ them unless itâs an emergency. Theyâve been getting emergency cases around the other side of the building. So, theyâre too busy.â, Wow! Okay. All I was asking for was an update on my dogâs condition, and THATâS the attitude Iâm given? Absolutely NOT! If youâre having a bad day, then maybe you should have taken the day off, or maybe you should find another job entirely, and if thatâs the attitude that your veterinary technicians are going to have, then maybe every single one of them should be fired, and replaced with decent human beings who actually love their job, and who actually want to do their jobs. There was a lady who had been waiting there for 3 hours, and she received the same poor attitude that I did when all she asked for was a status update on her own dog. Another woman who had been on her way out after finally getting her own dog back spoke with my Mother who had been waiting outside and she told my Mother that the front desk staff were not at all compassionate or understanding people. Iâve recommended this place to my friends in the past, because I had heard only good things. I will not be doing that anymore. This place needs to hire new front desk staff and new veterinary technicians who know how to treat others with compassion and who know how to get things done in timely manner before I ever even consider bringing any animal of mine back here. Honestly, this place and Route 66 are the absolute worst âVeterinary Clinicsâ in the state of New Mexico. I wouldnât trust them to diagnose a pet rock much less a living, breathing animal, I wouldnât talk to my dog the way they talked to me and several others. Additionally, I had to go through not one but two of the front desk staff just to get my dog back after I had spoken with his regular veterinarian and explained the situation to them, and they offered to take him the same day. When one of the girls at the front desk handed him back to me, she told me that the Doctor had done an exam on my boy but that the Doctor had âcomped itâ since I was going to take my boy to see his primary Veterinarian. When I asked what the Doctor had found in their exam, I was told that they couldnât tell me unless I was going to pay for it. Like holding my dogâs medical information that I NEEDED to know for ransom is totally acceptable. No! Thatâs malpractice. Period.

Over the past 20+ years, we have taken all of our 5 cats here. They were the only ones to properly diagnose our tabby cat with IBD back when he was just over a year old. He lived to be 20 years old and passed away peacefully at home. They also helped two of our other babies cross the bridge peacefully. Most recently, last spring Dr. Russman showed extraordinary compassion in helping our Spazz (19-years-old) to cross over. In addition to saying goodbye to Spazz last spring, we met Dr. Hannah Leonard who spent a lot of time with our sweet 18-year-old boy Monster, who she diagnosed as having Hyperthyroidism. She then became my personal Superhero by helping us through the process of treating it, which culminated in him receiving the I-131 treatment which was performed by Dr. Nolan, who is also amazingly skilled and caring. Monster is now no longer Hyperthyroid which is fantastic! As was to be expected though, his CKD is being unmasked. Again, Dr. Leonard has been with us every step of the way, helping us to make good decisions and give Monster the best possible care so that he can live out the rest of his days as healthy and happy as possible. I would recommend everyone at VCA in a heartbeat, without hesitation. They are all awesome; but truly, Dr. Leonard is extraordinary. She has gone above and beyond the standard level of care on every single visit. She is kind, compassionate, and honest and upfront about everything. She is the Best of the Best, with Honors.

Yes. Call and ask for an appointment with DR. Russman, she works with all manner of reptiles.
That's why I highly suggest pet insurance
I would look at animal humane
Call ask to speak with Dr. Russman she will be more then happy to talk about a new food. Also call the front desk and ask if you can return the unopened cans. For the ones opened I would suggest calling Hills to get a refund from them.
It will be hard to find a vet for free. Why you don't try calling animal humane they have low cost services and their prices are not expensive, or call other places and see if they have payment financing programs.
The VCA will do everything to help you. Any money you put down, even a little bit, is usually enough for them to give you time to work things out financially in order to handle the whole bill. If the VCA is to expensive for you then your next option is The Route 66 Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center. They're way more affordable and they work with VCA to save our little ones.
