Autumn Again
The worst medical care I've had in Oregon. When I saw the 1st nurse practitioner about widespread pain, she quickly diagnosed me with fibromyalgia without so much as an exam. I later read about the disease, and I obviously don't have it. Seeking an accurate diagnosis for the pain, I went back and saw a different nurse practitioner, Dirk Broekert, who treated me as if I were a nuisance and an interruption. He was bad tempered and condescending in the extreme, and would not answer questions or examine me because he was paid by the appointment, so I would have to make a separate appointment for each muscle or joint that hurt. The next time, I made 2 back-to-back appointments to ensure I would get an exam and my questions answered, but he spent most of that appointment belittling me, disparaged my exercise routine, cutting me off mid-sentence, and putting words in my mouth. When I told him that I believed all my pain was related, he essentially called me a hypochondriac. He was rude, obtuse, dismissive, and condescending about everything from the 60 pounds I gained in a year, to my debilitating headaches, chronic cough, fatigue, widespread pain, psychiatric disorder, and attempts to lose the weight I'd so-quickly put on. When I asked him for medical advice to lose the weight, he told me that all I needed to do was "eat less until you lose a pound a day," and he had the audacity to hush me while he recited this nugget of his great wisdom, stating, "you had your turn to talk, and now it's mine." When I told him that I was unable to jog outside due to PTSD that caused panic attacks, he said (and I'm not kidding you), "Do it anyway." Apparently he doesn't know or care what PTSD is, or what it's effects are. He never did offer an explanation for the headaches or sudden weight gain, and of my widespread body pain, he only said my feet hurt because my arches are so high, and that I need special shoes, but my arches have always been high, so that explanation falls pretty short. I am now a patient of Lane Health Clinics where they treat me infinitely better. The 1st doctor I saw quickly found that I'd injured my iliotibial bands, feet, back, wrists, and shoulder, probably from riding my stationary bike. And although she didn't know the cause of my weight gain or headaches, she got me on a medication and into physical therapy. I was also given an electrocardiogram, which was abnormal, and I've been referred for an echocardiagram and chest Xray because unexplained chronic cough + fatigue + Shortness of breath could indicate heart trouble. River Road Medical Group and Dirk Broekert didn't know or care enough to do any of that. Since then, they have found that I have 2 slipped cervical vertebrae, and I've suffered a lot of damage to my spine constantly compensating for it with all the other muscles of my body. That is the source much or even all of my pain, and it will be a long road back since it's gone untreated for years, thanks to the abysmal "care" of Dirk Broekert and River Road Medical Group. So, unless you are extremely confident and you advocate for yourself exceptionally well, do not use this clinic. Even if you do advocate for yourself well, I still wouldn't recommend them because they just don't seem to be very good, and Dirk Broekert absolutely can't see past his own prejudices. IMO, he shouldn't be allowed to practice. He's a danger to his patients.

This office is belittling and unhelpful, on multiple occasions I have had to call several times to get medications sent to the pharmacy and the high turnover rate of staff is concerning. I have also been in person and have consistently seen reception not wearing masks while around other staff and clients.

I’ve received care at River Road Medical for some time, and have found every provider I have been seen by to be thorough, knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. At times I’ve been seen by physician's assistants, and while setting up the appointment, I was always asked If I was comfortable seeing a PA prior to the appointment being finalized. When I call with questions, I always receive a prompt call-back and answer to my question. River Road Medical is also prompt and efficient with making referrals to specialists when I have had the need for one. I have been fortunate to be afforded the level of health care I have received through River Road Medical.

6-2-17 -- I called River Road Medical group because I only have regular Medicare no other supplemental insurance. I call many medicals groups and no one would take me as a new patient because of government insurance. I only needed blood pressure prescription but they took me as a new patient and did a full long interview with Rebecca Beck who is Physician assistant. She did not hurry me, was knowledgeable and kind. If you have only straight Medicare or OHP and having an issue finding a Dr. give them I try. I have not met any of the doctors yet so the jury is still out on the whole practice. So far so good.
